    Updated to window 11 from 10. Fuck me!!

    The click for that is now there. The scrolls added now on the other side of were it was. Search options suck. +++ It's taken me a lot of time to find the new routine. Why not have the option to keep the layout the same?

              windows is fucking awful these days. last decent version was 7

              I have one windows machine for the rare occasion I want to play a non-linux-compatible game and even just loading up a game is infuriating. ads everywhere, endless notifications, weird performance issues...

              just awful.

                  i used win7 for many years after it was end of life. i went to win10 only because newer laptops came with it. i think it runs pretty stable. i have 3 win10 machines on my desk running 24/7 and never crash, although they do want to force upgrade every week.

                  we have a gaming station in the house on win11 that runs many hours a day. the teenage user of that machine says he didn't have any problems switching to win11.

                  i'm not a fan of some of the win11 UI choices. going towards Apple design isn't the right way to go for Windows users, but it is standard for Microsoft to copy other companies. they've never successfully created anything original.

                  we have 19 apple devices in the house (not counting 30+ tags) but i only touch them for testing. if my wife lets me.

                                              Yes, Windows 7 Professional - my all time fave (since starting with MS-DOS 1.0).

                                              With Win 7, you had complete control over updates, and everything was where you expected it to be, when you needed it.

                                                  also pornhub doesn't have thousands of servers bro. extrapolating from my own numbers the most they would need is 600, but that's only if they're going with a microserver architecture. with bare metal servers it would be 30-60.

                                                              wait til your mic stops working when yet another (my god like 3 in the past two months) update is required. I wouldn't update but every now and then I have to shut down my comp (update automatic on start up no matter what 'later' I set)

                                                              the sound goes out on my mic even before I update if I ignore it for too long. then of course navigating through a bunch of ads for microsoft products and eventual start up is slow as molasses for the first 5 mins. such a fun way to start a day

                                                                              I wouldn't count them because you have no way to count them - we don't know how many nodes are in that cdn and we don't know how many nodes are in their storage cloud, and those that are are likely shared in some way by other clients of the CDN company.

                                                                                  yea if you don't know the tech behind your services, you can't count them lol. it looks like Manwin runs all of its own data warehouses according to interviews. with their massive capital, they're probably managing their own distribution networks too.

                                                                                  i bet Brad knows the answer. that dude has a few hundred servers at least.

                                                                                      I wasn't even willing to update to 10 from 7 until the very last moment when there was really no support left at all, never used 8 and such crap... will probably be the same with updating to 11 from 10, by the time I'll be forced to do that there will probably be 12-13 already xD these days upgrades mean making the software shittier lol...

                                                                                                      it's a stupid fucking thing to be arguing about but yes, I have a 5 figure server bill and I manage all the machines through SSH. you're not the only tech-savvy person on this forum running a large operation.

                                                                                                      its also pretty stupid to argue about whether CDN counts as servers. Like konrad said, if you're using cloudflare, you're using "thousands" of servers, but you're only actually logging into a few of them.

                                                                                                      its cool and all that you built your own CDN but uhh...as a software engineer....I kinda think you're putting a LOT of time and effort into something that has a negligible effect on your profit margins. Mojohost would be stoked to set you up with a CDN plan with custom pricing (given how much traffic you have) and your server administration workload would be cut by 80%. again...as a software engineer...its a no-brainer.

                                                                                                                                          a cdn doesn't require a minimum number of nodes, and you don't have to depend on one of the mega corporations to distribute your content to different parts of the world. i think its great that you want to give billionaires your money instead of doing a little coding and setup work, but i've got plenty of time on my hands.

                                                                                                                                          my little baby network serves around 20tb of videos a day. nothing much i know, but it works and keeps me and my clients fed.

Yesterday they allowed our site to have NO IMAGES displaying on our 4 sites for over 4 hours, even though we notified them of the issue. And it's because they forgot to update a CDN hook template and tried to gloss over that fact. They finally admitted fault, but this is like one of several incidents over the years.

                                                                                                                                                      So many ignorant people in here and my MojoHost threads blindly defending them.

                                                                                                                                                      Agree it's best to at least get your own DevOps person and either build your own CDN or at least move to AWS.
