wait til your mic stops working when yet another (my god like 3 in the past two months) update is required. I wouldn't update but every now and then I have to shut down my comp (update automatic on start up no matter what 'later' I set)

the sound goes out on my mic even before I update if I ignore it for too long. then of course navigating through a bunch of ads for microsoft products and eventual start up is slow as molasses for the first 5 mins. such a fun way to start a day

I'm really fed up and doubt I'll ever buy another microsoft/windows comp again

yes i am counting CDN, cloud hosting, your mom's local dev server in the basement. why wouldn't you count those? they are servers. i built my own CDN, and i manage those servers, so yes i will count them.

anybody know the video count on PH? did you guys know those videos have to be stored and served? or do you think its just magic?

I wouldn't count them because you have no way to count them - we don't know how many nodes are in that cdn and we don't know how many nodes are in their storage cloud, and those that are are likely shared in some way by other clients of the CDN company.

You can count your CDN because you made it and know exactly how many nodes are in it. I would even argue that by counting CDN, then even Mechbunny.com is hosted on thousands of servers because it's behind cloudflare.

yea if you don't know the tech behind your services, you can't count them lol. it looks like Manwin runs all of its own data warehouses according to interviews. with their massive capital, they're probably managing their own distribution networks too.

i bet Brad knows the answer. that dude has a few hundred servers at least.

I wasn't even willing to update to 10 from 7 until the very last moment when there was really no support left at all, never used 8 and such crap... will probably be the same with updating to 11 from 10, by the time I'll be forced to do that there will probably be 12-13 already xD these days upgrades mean making the software shittier lol...

You can move the Taskbar to the left from the default center if that bothers you.

If you use notepad a lot, then the new tabs feature is a great help.

I never have any of these problems. Weird. XP was the best tho.

it's a stupid fucking thing to be arguing about but yes, I have a 5 figure server bill and I manage all the machines through SSH. you're not the only tech-savvy person on this forum running a large operation.

its also pretty stupid to argue about whether CDN counts as servers. Like konrad said, if you're using cloudflare, you're using "thousands" of servers, but you're only actually logging into a few of them.

its cool and all that you built your own CDN but uhh...as a software engineer....I kinda think you're putting a LOT of time and effort into something that has a negligible effect on your profit margins. Mojohost would be stoked to set you up with a CDN plan with custom pricing (given how much traffic you have) and your server administration workload would be cut by 80%. again...as a software engineer...its a no-brainer.

I have now remembered who you are. You're the guy that will hit a three pointer in 10 tries, and then say "in my young age, i could have been Jordan, but life circumstances stopped me". I have servers in US, EU and Asia. Only thing needed is to serve the same content from all 3 now and i have a cdn. maybe i should pitch to akamai to take them over.
