Texas law HB 1181 etc what are you guys doing

All these new laws where a handful of States want Govt ID and to paste a bunch of information on all your pages etc

What are you as webmasters doing about it, those that run free sites, blogs, tubes, forums etc?

    - Nothing at all?
    - Blocking the states that have the rules?
    - Added all the crap they need for verification?

    Thanks

Google and Bing show tons of porn on their websites, so what are they doing about it.

      I'm thinking 2 or 3.

How do you identify visitors from a specific state? CloudFlare doesn't seem to have a firewall filter by state (they have by country and by continent).

Does anyone know the IPs for Texas?

Most server hosts can block via state, though not sure about Cloudflare and how they run things or if you are just using cloudflare as a cache etc

Texas IP Ranges would just be a google search Texas IP Ranges and you will find stuff like this

        https://www.xmyip.com/ip-addresses/united--states/texas

It isnt just texas there is 7 states now with similar rules and expect a Govt Verification system on your sites and a bunch of warnings.

Louisiana, Arkansas, Montana, Mississippi, Utah, Virginia and Texas.

Porn hub elected to do #2 for Virginia, Utah and Mississippi. They will most likely do the same with Texas.

            Thanks.

Apparently cloudflare can block by region and/or postalCode, that seems more manageable. I need to investigate further.

              Facts:

              1. Porn is seen as bad by many, but lots of people still watch it.
              2. The biggest porn market is the US.
              3. pirate tubes make porn easy to find.

              Conclusion:

              1. The government is trying to ban porn with a law no one can stick to. Who's gonna share their ID just to watch porn? People want to keep this shit 100% anonymous.

              2. but this ban wont touch the consumer. They can still get their fix from 1,000+ free tube sites.

              3. The porn industry doesn't have a government lobby like movies or music do. So it's gonna get fucked in the ass and nobody's gonna give a damn.

              4. Lots of porn companies are outside the US and dont pay US taxes. No incentive for the government to keep them, especially if they don't have lobbyists. And who the hell would want a donor associated with porn

              5. MindGeek tried to make porn normal with billboards and press releases, but they got fucked. Their owner's facing lawsuits for the rest of their life. Lesson learned: don't try to normalise porn.

              6. Porn's meant to be hidden under your bed. don't talk about it, don't admit it, just secretly watch it. thats how society accepts it

              7. All states will pass this law eventually.people wont fight it because:
              a) Whos gonna argue about porn when no one admits they watch it?
              b) Porn's always available on free/pirate tube sites.

              8. US porn companies will have to pack up and forget the US market. Its what happened to exchanges and online casinos. Visa and Mastercard will probably need age verification to process cards for your site if it's available in the US.

              9. Big tube sites (top 10) will likely follow this rule and say "sorry, this content isnt available in your location". The smaller fish will take the risk and go full Brrrrrrrrrrrr on the US market.

              10. Porn is going to be less profitable when US paying customers turn into free loaders.

Maybe no one, maybe someone. No Idea will they just go after the big players, will they go after some small fish, dunno. I am just trying to get a sense of what people are up to and their plans cause I really only have 3 decisions 1. Ignore it 2. Comply or 3. Block/redirect

I think it would be interesting to see if I could get free press for my website if I pretend to take a stand over it and then immediately cave under the media pressure and block the same sites as PornHub... could get me some exposure for my tube-killer!
