Hollywood is now catching up with porn sites

It is interesting how Hollywood is doing what porn did about 20 years ago, and that was to go from hard media (DVD's) to online.

Perhaps the big mistake that no one did in porn was to do a Netflix site before Netflix, as many were doing this with porn, and could have easily done a non porn site.

What is interesting is that Hollywood has made the mistake many did with porn sites.

Years ago we had sites pop up who had invested huge in content and at the same time offered 100% to affiliates. Even though these sites must have had huge number of members, one suspects they made no profit and as years have gone on these sites have closed or been sold on.

Hollywood too now seems to be making these sites, and filling them with expensive content, yet in truth probably do not make a profit simply because even with millions of members, they are spending more on content and running the sites plus staff than what the members bring in.

Spot on! After all, what are paysites but nothing more than streaming services? Same issues with retention, rebills, churn, time on site, minutes spent watching videos....Disney et al should have hired me as a consultant and they could have avoided much of the current streaming mess.

Can you imagine the server costs tho for Netflix, Disney etc? Wow!

          Yes

I presume they have servers all over too to cope with the demand.

I presume that some customers must cost them money if they view a lot.

It is so cool to think of the tech that is involved with blasting 100+ million users a night with content!

Worldwide, I wonder, what is the PEAK bandwidth usage of Netflix or Disney? Like on Christmas Eve when the whole family is full of turkey and watching shows or whatever.

They probably use Amazon's cloud servers but still, as the porn star said after her first facial, 'What a load!"
