Because I have found, nothing counsels depression like 1) pretending it doesn't really exist and 2) putting the patient on a guilt trip. I say it is about a 50/50 chance of "recovery."

Alot of women are on an anti-depressant cause their doctors are too lazy to fix what is really wrong..

I had a doctor pull that crap on me in 89.... I had to quit my job cause my neck hurt so bad... He said I was having panic attacks and just a stressed out mother..I said there was something wrong. I made him take an xray and I was right . I had whip lash in my neck, messed up vertabraes, muscle damage and arthritis in my jaw joints...

It cheaper for the insurance company to just give someone a pill than fix the real problem..Sad but true in many cases..

Doctors are so quick to dole out anti-depressants these days. I used to do tech support & totally hated my job. I was stressed all the time, had no energy. My doctor wanted to put me on some version of Prozac.

Fuck that. I quit my job & started my own biz instead. I've been happier ever since & make way more money than I did in the corporate world.

For the record, about 90% of the tech guys that I worked with were on anti-depressants. It's not just women that need some mind-numbing agent to do those shitty jobs.

This area of the pharma industry is no better than a Columbian drug cartel. The added advantage is in the marketing side where the target market is much bigger, it is "legal" and you can charge prices for that shit which more than resembles "drug dealing".

This is an industry which has over 2000 lobbists - kinda makes a mockery of any idea of a democracy. It is no surprise electoral campaigns are well supported by this industry.

The other side is.. it can do much good for those who actually need it. However the marketing ploys (legal!*g*), in TV advertising etc, telling folks to run along to a doctor and tell the doc ya want Prozac is immoral.

The US appears to be the most attractive market to drug dealers in that a higher percentage of the population want to take drugs - (for whatever reasons), - I got little doubt the corps like Lilley are well aware and just pandering to these whims.

Fuck em all - they are worse than VISA cos they actually cause damage to many folks.
