I don't remember the exact steps anymore but I used to connect to the Internet with DOS. I needed a batch file that would load 4 different files, one of them was a TCP/IP driver, and something that would bind something to something else, etc. Once done, a seperate program would dial-in via a Hayes smart-modem. Once connected, I used ARCHIE and VERONICA clients to look around, and of course a NEWS client or 2... Fun! -

I remember going from 14.4k to 28.8k and then 56.6k, which was a game changer.
56.6k = 3.36 Mb of data transfer per minute, or 201.6 Mb per hour.
