    Business What To Do With Old Affiliate Site With Organic Google Traffic

    Hey everyone,

    It's been a long time...

    Our site https://www.barelist.com/ hasn't been updated since 2018.

    The site was mostly affiliate driven.

    At our best we had around 120,000 unique visitors a day and now it's around 15,000-20,000 a day.

    We've done some other businesses since we stopped updating the site, none which really require much of my attention any more. Since I had some down time I'm trying to decide if I want to spend some time on Barelist or just move on to starting something else.

    I didn't even notice our email hosting was down and our twitter account with nearly 200,000 followers was suspended lol

    I'm curious what you guys would do with the site?

    99% of our traffic is coming from Google.

    We did annoying things when we didn't care like pop-unders, etc... which we would remove if we started working on the site again.

    Is it worth revamping the site (only our galleries are responsive for example) and trying to build it back up?

    Besides affiliate / cam traffic, what else is there to promote?

    Would it be worth keeping the old indexed pages (making them modern design friendly) and pivoting in a different direction with the traffic coming in? Or is there still money in promoting paysites?

          Still can earn money with your organic traffic

          I would suggest you not to waste the organic traffic that you get on your site and promote the affiliate link in your tab menu, or put videoslider , that will bring you a passive income.

                          and with 15000 hit a day now, you should be updating and having this as a membership site, the joins would be amazing.. 1-2000 would be 750 joins a day, at $10, even 200 hits a day would be great, wouldn´t it?

                                      I think first question is, does the site generate money.

                                      If it does, then just update or sell.

                                      If not then, with all the hits, you are missing out on cash.

                                                                      first of all id replace all outbound links to dead sponsors , this can be done probably within a day and some clever
                                                                      mysql commands

                                                                      2nd : if you track your incoming traffic lets say on cloudflare and it says 12.000 a day and if you have no strong application firewall, this can mean 11.000 out of those 12.000 uniques are useless bots (they all have fake referer from google). i noticed this behaviour on some of my older and dying sites. So before putting in to much effort i first check where that traffic is coming from, how human is it etc etc..
