Where do I need to go in Canada?

Hey guys, I am in need for some kickass advise. Next week I will be flying to Vancouver where a camper will be waiting for me, now from may 29th I will have three weeks to drive around.

My question to you is where I should go to, which places are the best and which ones are the worst??

Advise would be appreciated guys, it's my honeymoon ;-)

hehehe, so no Montreal for me then.

Don't forget that I will be flying to Vancouver so I am afraid that Montreal is a bit too far, I would like to drive about 1500 to 1800 miles in this period.

I was actually planning to cisit Scott (Sleazydream) in Winnipeg but I just found out that the distance between Vancouver and Winnipeg is 2250 km's (nearly 1500 miles) I also need to get back to Vancouver hehehe.

Sorry Scotty, better luck next time

Please hit me with some more kickass Tips and Tricks people?

go to Vancouver Island and visit Tofino (great beaches, parks and whale watching)

visit any of the smaller islands around the Strait Of Georgia

drive to Banff, stop over at Johnston Canyon and then go to Lake Louise, followed by the Columbia Ice Fields...keep heading north and stop over in Jasper (white water rafting)

temperatures in B.C fluctuate drastically at this time of year

and temperatures can change at the drop of a hat in the mountains at any time of the year

so bring clothing suited for warm days, rain and cool nights (snow and colder when in some areas of the Canadian Rockies)

Thanks for the Tips Rocky/Brisk!! I appreciate it a lot.

Is there anything special out there I ought to pay attention to? Maybe a few incredibly beautifull lakes/woods.

What would be considered as one of the most beautifull places out there? I heard something about some kind of Ice Road??

The Columbia Ice Fields are something you have to experience for yourself, they're actual live moving glaciers that you can get a ride up a mountain to go see, it's something else for sure.

Lake Moraine is actually more of a sight then Lake Louise, the water is greener and the sights are sharper, it's just less commercialized.

Any of the mountain photos on this page
http://www.memoriesbytreasure.com/html/scenic.html were taken between Banff town center and Jasper in Alberta. The sights are out of this world.

you will NEVER forget the scenery on the road that leads to Tofino and the town of Tofino is filled with natural beauty

you will NEVER forget driving on Sno-Cats out to the Columbia Ice Fields and walking on a glacier

you will NEVER forget the amazing trail that leads up the Johnston Canyon

and you will NEVER forget white water rafting down the Maligne River near Jasper

if you want a honeymoon that is filled with the most beautiful scenery then you had better make the trip from Banff up to Jasper

Right on. I am a California native, but I have a GF up in Alberta, and most of the places you listed I've been to. *Great* spots to hit on a road-trip. Fun drive, and great locations to see.

The weather there this time of year is hit-and-miss. 70's one week, and -10 the next (F that is... that's appx. 23 to -20 C).

Make sure you aim your trip towards Banff, regardless of any side-trips. All the roads leading towards there are great to drive (in decent weather), and you'll think you're in the Swiss Alps once you get there. It's romantic as hell, too!

I'm not familiar enough with the Canadian topography to offer any further advice. But have a blast, and take turns driving so that you can enjoy the ride and the view... and your new wife.

Nice motorhome.

Yeah, you pull into campgrounds (there are lots) and you plug in electricity and water and empty the sewage tanks. In the morning you get up and go outside and there will be deer, elk, and moose wandering around your motorhome.

Don't feed the bears, they'll eat you.

If you are into wine, there are some nice vineyards in the Okanagan area (Penticton, Kelowna, Vernon) that offer tours and tastings. Here's one http://www.missionhillwinery.com
