get Jackson! Performer series is around $400, you can a Jackson for $500 with EMG pickups which is good enough for playing at home, on small stages, demo recording etc. It's definitely the best brand at $400-500. If you want to spend more money, you can get ESP but you have to choose carefully, not all of them sound good, many of them have shitty bridges.

I play in a band since 6 years ago, this are my babes:

Get a barclay..
Hasn't done me wrong so far ^-^ That's a good idea though.. it's kinda getting worn down.. <Searches for new guitar> |
I'd have to agree with Virtu Mike opn this one because I play a PRS
However if you are starting out- it would help you to purchase an acoustic It's all about conditioning your fingers- once you make the transition from acoustic to electric your fingers will feel like butter as they glide over the gauge of electric strings Just my two cents Or you can buy a cheapy Fender Squier to learn on for around $150 |
If you are spending less than 200 bucks for an electric guitar it won't matter what you buy. I would suggest a used "better" guitar than a new one at 200. Find any brand that feels good to you and sounds half way decent. I am a les paul man for 6 string and a spector man for my main bass. I also have a carvin bass that I used live for years but I broke the truss rod. Other than that is was a killer bass.

I play an Ibanez that I've had since I was about 13, and still love it.
