          I tend to record all the shows i want to watch and then fast forward through all the commercials. Whatever happened to the DVRs that sensed commercials due to the increase in sound and would stop recording until the sound was reduced. I had one in the UK but they don't seem to be available in the USA. Maybe they got banned ?
