There's some horror stories in here for sure, but no business will last long doing shady tactics. We set and forgot what our minimums 20 years ago. What about affiliates who allow you access to a small portion of their traffic to see how well you convert, if your program shows promise then they slowly send you a more and more and more, until they are matching the traffic and sales your top affiliates are sending.
Perhaps if you had that mindset maybe the majority of your sites would still be up and running and making you good money?Comment

You are describing outliers here. Generally if this were the case, you would be aware of it when the affiliate signed up.
In 2024, random unknown affiliate signups to an adult affiliate program are probably time wasters if they aren't outright fraud. Personally when I test out a new product I have an idea how it should go and I contact a rep from the company.Comment

The bad attitudes about beer money affiliates really contributed to making it harder to make bank in the paysite space.
As the coders in this thread have already pointed out, it should not be necessary to waste a lot of human hours on this. As Porn Nerd pointed out, CCBill will do that work for a program. Of course, if, as a program owner, you let CCBill hold affiliate dough, they get the float, not you.
I've never understood how folks who can't afford to pay fifty bucks think it is reasonable to call the other guy poor.
I understand programs who simply have a strategy that includes a higher minimum from go, but it is absolutely a red flag that a company is in trouble when it starts raising minimums or deciding they need ID all over again or any other bureaucratic nonsense to not pay.Comment

most of the networks i built run affiliate sales thru ccbill/verotel, but all other sales thru a merchant account. pretty easy setup and they're not losing extra processing fees for a majority of the sales.
when i did affiliate work, i never trusted programs that do their own payouts. i've never seen one that is 100% on-time like ccbill or verotel. matt's models still owes me $18k + interest - and some affiliates a lot more
