Sly_RJ, actually the laws are still screwed up. If you want a legal abortion, both parties have to agree. If a female wants to have the child and names ?you? as the father on the birth certificate and blood tests show you are the biological father, even if you are not ready, you are responsible for the next 18 years for that child.

Most women I know that had children with ?the sperm donor? never asked for anything and love their children. When I was young, getting pregnant was a way to get married to a boyfriend or messing up and having an abortion. Guess it hasn?t changed much.

EXCUSE ME, but I was 19 when I had my son. He's now 7 years old and I'm CERTAIN that he is very glad I didn't abort him. He's also a very kind and caring individual.

I have a friend who had a baby at 14. She raised her daughter (who is now 13) VERY well, and her daughter is a straight-A student, well adjusted, happy and thriving wonderfully. She does not do drugs, smoke or drink. She is not in a gang (unless you want to count her youth group at church). She is planning to go to college and become a doctor. And someday you may thank god she was born because if she becomes a doctor she might end up saving your life. :Graucho

My friend was a good mother at 14.

My grandmother was a good mother at 16.

My mother was a good mother at 20.

However I know children who grew up with mothers who gave birth in their thirties who had no business EVER being parents. I went to school with a girl who's mother had her in her late 20s and she left my 13 year old friend home alone until 3 AM every night of the week so she could go out drinking and doing drugs. Now THAT shit is irresponsible. I also know someone who is in her 30s who has three kids who used to leave her 13, 5 and 2 year old children home alone ALL WEEKEND while she went out partying. Is that being a good mother?

Being of legal age does not make one a good mother.
