question for webhost guys...
ok, I had this fucked up thing happen yesterday. Pacbell / SBC had a merger, and as a result they changed the primary and secondary DNS's to something else... and pointed everything to new machines... and, get this, didn't even bother to move the existing websites to the new machines. They were trying to tell me this is the customer's responsibility.
Now I'll give it to them, changing your domain's primary and secondary DNS is the customers responsibility... but wait a second, can't they forward IP's to the new DNS's so it's seamless transition? Yes, I'm fairly sure that's pretty simple stuff. Now, the question is this. I know there's no rule that says who's responsibile for what... but jesus christ, what kind of webhost puts that responsiblity on the customer?? What kind of webhost says the data migration is the customer's fucking responsibility?!?! This really pissed me off. Moving data between machines in a datacenter is REALLY fucking easy. Seems to me like they're just trying to give me excuses to try to justify their fuckup. |

Of course it's their fault. Get a real host.
May I suggest XFR Networks? |

I can help you out when you decide to make the move. How much does SBC charge you for bandwidth (ouch)?

It's not my site actually, it's a site that I run for a major Sacramento retailer... they've lost a lot of traffic over it. They're just confused about the situation because they don't understand what happened, but I'm going to try to get them a new host who doesn't screw around like this...
