When buying an expired domain name

What basic conditions should I look for when buying expired domain name

I can pump out good content, but i would like to start receiving SE traffic soon about 1-2 weeks time and not wait 3 months and avoid google sandbox..

    So,

    should i buy domains with
    1. Alexa rank? even in the millions?
    2. some backlinks?
    3. Age of domain? (must be over 3 months old?)
    4. Active domain?

Pls point me to the right conditions to help me make it happen. Thanks

Some "expert" might give you a definitive answer. I don't know if there really is one.

I've bought them and had varied results.

Some really popular long lived sites with lots of backlinks and huge domain authority don't rank at all in Google.

Then I have other much smaller sites with less backlinks and lower DA that rank and convert like crazy.

Expired domains are risky at times. Tread with care.

Every domain in use today started out as a cheap domain.

Run them through Majestic and look at the Trust Flow and Citation Flow scores to get an idea on how many backlinks the domain has, and how good of quality those backlinks are..Then, jump over to web.archive.org and look at the previous content that was on the domain, determine if it was an actual website or something spammy. Finally, do a free domain analysis using the Moz Domain Analysis Tool and see what spam score the domain has, and if it has any top ranking keywords.

You can always look them up on Alexa or SimilarWeb to get an idea of traffic as well.. The steps above should help in making sure you're getting an expired domain with decent backlinks which also isn't spammy.
