working on a game site & I've got a problem finding a domain extension

The .Com is close to $3k so it's not on my list

After that my choices are .org .net .info .xyz .top .buzz .icu .monster .shop .club .cc .cyou .best

Obviously not a lot of great choices but I've got to make a choice. Any advice?

I would agree that .games or .game would be best.. Heck, Free.games even sold for $335,000... The new extensions are getting more common and other popular extensions I think could work with a gaming developer (depending what device it's for) would be .app or .tech

Avoid .club .xyz it screams my site is full of viruses. I think .gg and .zone are common in your niche.

Why are .monster or .cyou choices?

I'd still try to go with a .com, though

            Above post is correct.

            1. .COM is the only choice. You are handing traffic away to the .COM if you get anything else and making it more valuable/expensive to buy later.

            2. .IO is the only possible other choice, if available. Originally popular with tech/startups, since agar.io it has become a popular extension for games.

            3. Unless the .NET and .ORG are available for $10 don't get them. If they are, get both, if you're happy to lose traffic to the .COM.

            4. Don't consider any other extension other than .COM, .NET or .ORG even if they're free with a complimentary blow job.

            5. $3k is not a bad price if it's a short one word .COM or the exact (one word) name of your game, but if not, or you just don't want to pay that, get "name of game"+game.com - ie, tetrisgame.com, which is far better than tetris.game or any other extension. Or get any decent freely available .COM for $10, which can be the name of your company/publisher and used if you develop more games.

            In short: get a .COM.

Edit: I assumed this was for a game but if it's a games site (that lists or contains other people's games) it should be even easier to use any kind of name. Just call it something+arcade.com, or something+games.com - being .COM and memorable is what really matters.

How do you know that the seller wants 3K? Listed on site, or by having direct communication?

Consider reaching out to the seller, and offering some variation of:
              - buy now for 1600 or
              - full asking price of 3000 but with 12 equal installments interest free

Back in 2008 when the economy crashed, we unloaded hundreds of domains by providing interest free payment options for up to three years, and have secured premium domains for clients under the same approach.

              Good luck!

I agree and I spent 3 hours making and trying a list of possible domain names. Eventually I found a
.com name. Albeit it's not the one that I wanted but it'll do.

When I tried to buy the domain from the registrar I got hit with a screen telling me how much and that for
a fee they'll try contacting the owner and negotiate with them for me.

At first I just thought it was just the registrar trying to make more money but after searching other
registrars it was obvious the domain was indeed taken.
