hehe....I kind of know those guys from the Yamaha R6 message board.

Guy with the helmet camera was a more experienced rider following his two buddies who just bought brand new bikes.

nice....the champ edition R1/R6s look pretty sweet. I wish they had added a few performance touches instead of $500 extra just for decals.

I won't even bother to find the original thread on my bike board since the search function sucks there....

but what the guy said happened was the first guy thought he was going into the turn too fast (ha!)...applied the front brake which makes the bike stand up and go straight..

he hits the rock...flips it

the second guy gets target fixation after he sees his friend go down...instead of weaving around the first guy (as taught in the MSF beginner rider course)....he slams on the rear brake (idiot), locks up the rear wheel, fish tails and loses it.

this was like their first ride or so....ever....on sparkling new $8k machines.

sad really.

highsided going 135??....damn your lucky you were ok...and I'm suprised your bike didn't suffer enough damage to stop you from riding.

do you have frame sliders?...i've got Intuitive Racing bar sliders and frame sliders (the real kind that require cutting).

I bet you go on some fun mountain sorties out there....there isn't shit for fun roads in my area of south florida....nothing but cops and cagers. But I'm moving back to N. central Florida where there are plenty of twisty country roads with no traffic or lawmen.

I knew it was a suit from the first pic......very nice!

I was just a poor college student when I got my bike back in 2000. I've done two track days, but I just rent leathers for those.

I won't get a full suit unless I start racing. Until then I'll ride in jeans, jacket, gloves with carbon fiber knuckles and my shoei helmet.

I know leather pants would be best, but I'll probably invest in some Draggin Jeans when I move back to my old riding grounds.

I have seen to many bikers walk funny, because they dident want to spend the $$$ on a real suit - its a sad view, but everybody have the right to do as they please.

Like your helmet by the way--

This is mine:

You're absolutely right. I invested over $400 on that jacket after a guy in front of me wrecked and broke his back on a group ride.

I've seen quite a few people go down bad...and one friend die.

So I try to be the safest rider I can...leather pants are the only thing I go without.

I've got the utmost respect for guys who wear full suits all the time.

kickass helmet...is it one of the race replicas?

I went down and hit my head on the Homestead road course with that Yamaha helmet on the last session of the day. So I bought this new one right away just to be safe.

Nice hemlet :-) Shoei is one of the best brands on the market.
Mine is made by the same company that makes the "shark" helmets, but this brand and models is build for racing only, and kost a fortune :-) But I dont have a problem putting $800 on the table, to secure my head - I belive my life is worth more than $800

here's my arai. i don't think anything beats an arai. better airflow than a shoei is about the only big difference.

Its to heavy - you REALLY feel it at the end of the straight on the race track.
Suomy is not a Street helmet. You get to much wind noice.
It's optimiced for racing = Low turbulence, low weight, washable inner coating ("blood and vomit bag")

Before I got the Suomy, I had a Uvex, but they stop making the handmade carbon helmets, and the mainstream is not good enough (easy penetration)

i don't find it very heavy at all. i think its light. although i've never tried a suomy.

Ive been wanting to get a bike for some time now. I guess I have to take a biker drivers type course and get a license from the DMV and shit, cuz I dont know how to ride. But I want to ask, whats a good USED bike to get for a new rider? And what prices should I expect to pay for it?
