Probably because people will fight over it. Some will say that you can't rank if the WL uses canonicals, some will say that you can still rank one if you know what you're doing, and then some will throw in random things like "you can even rank with nofollow links if you do it right" and will get off topic by the 5th reply.

Even if it gets indexed you probably won't have such good results like you would have with custom/api based cam site.
