Here are some you probably haven't heard of:
"Once Around" with Holly Hunter and Richard Dreyfus. No one's heard of it but it's an excellent family drama. Very moving.
"My Chauffeur" with Deborah Foreman (star of Valley Girl) with a scene featuring Penn and Teller. Schlocky, but she's adorable and funny.
"Real Genius" with Val Kilmer. Very funny movie. Have seen it multiple times.

For you David Lynch fans.... ERASERHEAD. It's kinda out there... but still very good for you Lynch fans.
Also... Story of Ricky gets listed all the time in the "Bad Movie Reviews" but that's why you need to see it. Too much unbelievable shit to describe here. Suffice to say it's a classic, gory, comedic, mess. (but it's not trying to be funny).Comment

Searching for Bobby Fischer--well acted, deeply moving
