          OMG!!

This means that websites will have to follow common sense shit that should have been done 20 years ago.

          The horror!

If tubes follow those rules than their business model will not work anymore. Pornhub can not compete against other tubes that don't need mastercard approval. They already lost a third of their traffic within three months after purging unverified content.

Pornhub will have to adjust their model to allow stolen and unverified content, or they will slowly die.

“The banks that connect merchants to our network will need to certify that the seller of adult content has effective controls in place to monitor, block and, where necessary, take down all illegal content,”
“All someone needs is a smartphone and a Wi-Fi connection. Now, our requirements address the risks associated with this activity.

Actually, they would most likely have to implement something like this regardless of this decision. Xvideos and Xhamster are European companies and tubes will be subject to the new copyright directive passed in EU. I believe if PH want to do business in EU, they will be subject to this ... AFAIK they also have a company in Ireland.

                    1.

Member States shall provide that an online content-sharing service provider performs an act of communication to the public or an act of making available to the public for the purposes of this Directive when it gives the public access to copyright-protected works or other protected subject matter uploaded by its users.

An online content-sharing service provider shall therefore obtain an authorisation from the rightholders referred to in Article 3(1) and (2) of Directive 2001/29/EC, for instance by concluding a licensing agreement, in order to communicate to the public or make available to the public works or other subject matter.
