    Latest Go Daddy Expericnce

Has anyone been affected by the GoDaddy Migration? This is what I learned today. Not slander or defamation a true experience. BTW just small potatoes but rely on traffic from HUN, Freeones that I generate from good ole fashioned homemade video and pic galleries that flow into TAC and Southern Charms. But you all should take notice of this...

They are migrating 4GH unlimited plans to new servers. if you have any video media files (.mov, .avi, .mp4, .wmv..etc) that are on your website and do not remove them they SUSPEND YOUR SITE and only offer a plan to upgrade for $800.00 informing me that I need 100GB. They claim the new servers will not be shared and that the current model (utilized for 9 years is going away...forgive me if this is old news to the pros here) But what should be noted is that they offered no concession after they deleted my site and shut down the online presence of 9 years solid. I am screwed and they totally know it. I was a customer for 9 years and they just changed the plan on me with zero notice and then "suspended" / hijacked my site that was online for 9 years. They don't care about your business. All they want to do is find a divisive way to get you in a bind and raise the price. Despicable hosting services. It should also be known that zero notice was given. They claimed they emailed me. There was no call (in the past they left vm about ssl and renewals) OK so my question is (and I am a newbie to you seasoned folks) what course of action do I have? Are you familiar with what Daddy is doing? Is there any legal recourse?

Bottom line is simply that Godaddy isn't a good place to host with. But if you didn't know that, then you didn't know that - Now you do... So, where to going forward?

Hit up Sly at vacares.com or Brad at mojohost.com restore your site from your backups and go make some money Good luck !

Why do you use GD for hosting in the first place? Godaddy is for domains, not hosting and it sucks, their hosting probably sucks even more.

I'd never use a domain registrar for hosting. Do you have backups? Just get a real host.

I sold a domain by using their auction membership. After 2 months I still haven't received my money. GoDaddy sucks big these days!!!! Support ticktes are like: "Get back to us if you haven't received funds after 7 days." That's been going on for weeks like that.

Not sure why this is surprising... it's the way of business these days. All that matters is cutting costs and making more profit. Fuck everything else. You see it everywhere and in everything. If there is money to be made, it will more than likely happen.

I'll just take a second to briefly share my godaddy experience, which I have shared before in the past.

I had about 40 names with them. Some were active billing pay sites. Some were active billing pay sites that I was running on behalf of other people. Some were personal mainstream stuff and some were semi valuable names... I had (So I thought) done everything I could do to make it secure.

Not sure if two factor identification was 'a thing' back then, but everything else I could have reasonable done, I did... Domains were registered in my Full Legal Name, connected to my main email account that I checked every day, multiple times, and my contact details such as address and phone numbers (Both Mobile and Landline) etc were fully up to date.

Some clown sends a written letter, to godaddy, purporting to be me, and says that I'm moving from LA (Where I was located at the time) across country to NYC (or similar) and that I can't remember my password to change my whois data.

Instead of them changing it for me, then getting in touch via a legit method, they sent a login / method to access the account to a total stranger !

I then started to get calls from people asking why their sites were down, or showing weird stuff etc, and I went to login and I couldn't ! Everything had been changed on me! It took me about 3 days to get things back to normal with multiple long phone calls to godaddy, and me having to absolutely jump through hoops sending them all sorts of 'evidence' that I was who I said I was, including certified copies of my identity etc etc...

However, they had happily let some utter random in, just cause they said that they were me, and moving - With no proof at all !

Absolute Nightmare ! Once all was back to normal I moved everything to namecheap, where everything (that's still left now, nearly 20 years later) has sat securely ever since...

                  Fuck Godaddy !

Imagine using godaddy to host your domains let alone your websites, jesus christ

That being said, I doubt anyone here has given any non-overpriced good hosting options

A few rules from someone who has been at it since buying domains was done via fax to network solutions.

                                1. Go daddy sucks
                                2. Never host with your register, or buy domai s from your host.
                                3. Keep backups ready to go, better yet a hot swap server so you can just change dns and tell your host to fucke themselves.

I doubt she knows little about hosting

I have moved my hosting many moons ago, and I do not look back.

Now I am in the process of transferring my domains: it's not just hosting that suck with GoDaddy!
