Educational How do you valuate your porn site(s) for sale?

For mainstream businesses, you look at EBITDA, or profits multiplier, but for this industry, how do you valuate? What are the going rates?

Interested in hearing your buyer and seller stories with numbers.

    Thanks 👍

Normally I've heard it's 9-12 months revenue based on the volatility of this market, depends on the site though.

Interesting that you mention revenue and not profit.

While those left now are more likely to be professional in their accounting, the industry has had a history of being less aware of, for example, tax deductions most businesses would know to take. Most buyers are not exactly using discounted cash flow models or multi year returns to decide what they are good with paying. A lot of buyers will consider how long it would take them to knock off your project, when deciding how many months or years of revenue to pay.

I usually just pluck a ludriouse price straight out of my ass, put it on GFY to sell it, then spend an entire thread arguing with everyone who doesn't agree with what I want for it.

                  But thats just me... YMMV...

I doubt you can find a good website for 9x monthly revenue

In mainstream, on sites like empireflippers, they usually asking for around 30x monthly profits on average which includes stuff like Amazon FBA type business as well as affiliate sites. Obviously depends on many factors. I would think for an affiliate site in adult you are going to get alot smaller multipliers than you would for a mainstream site on average.

Those are fantasy prices made up to cheat people that dont get it. You would be lucky if they sold for one tenth of that price

Important to note here that there is also a difference between an affiliate site and a pay site, or a service site with clients of some sort, etc.

"Adult" isn't just "adult." It's made up of many different sectors that each have their own important variables.

If you ask the brokers in the industry, you'll get insanely inflated prices.

If you ask arrogant webmasters who think their turd is a pot of gold, you'll get insanely inflated prices.

Like Sly alluded to, there's a ton of nuance. A tube won't use the same variables as an established pay site or hosting company. A tube also won't (shouldn't) use the same variables as a review site.

Usually those AMAZON FBA websites you find for sale are worth less than a third of the listing price .. there are way too many ways of inflating the price, and some people simply don't understand that it's more about the amount of work you put in..

How much work YOU have put in has exactly zero bearing on how much I would value YOUR site.

In fact, I couldn't give any less of a shit about that.

My opinion is the same as yours, I written the post in a hurry and wasn't specific. What I meant to say was that the amount of money an Amazon FBA website produces depends on the amount of work ,thus ,if a website produces 5k/mo with a lot of work, and you sell it for 120k as a 2years revenue price , the price is inflated because once you sell it,you won't be doing that work anymore,it'd be up to the buyer. So,without the respective work, which is what is actually being sold, the revenue is much lower, say 1k , so the price is inflated by 500%
