Niche site need help with traffic ..

Hi gang,

Many of you are very successful here ... and I now turn to you for advice.

I have a niche site (lactation fetish) which I have been running for a couple of years now - only with relatively low success.

I have never been able to generate many signups - I've tried low prices, usenet posting, banner sites, etc ... but can not seem to generate signups.

Can anybody give me some suggestions/pointers on how to increase my exposure? Ie. generate better traffic?

That's the first mistake in your thinking.
The second is that you can simply put up some advertisements and newsgroup posts and get massive traffic.

Honestly, you need to go visit a different type of board where you can get pointers on how to build feeder sites to push traffic to your paysite, and learn everything that you can.

You most likely won't get that type of help here at GFY - I mean, just take a good look at the name of the board.

Why not hire a designer and let him build a professional layout for your site. Should help to convert your traffic :-)

The server is definately online .. and responding! I'd like to see where the failure point is.

Instead of just telling me that the server is down ... you could ... post a tracert.

Many people are reporting that the site is up for them - I need to try to narrow this problem down ... perhaps _THIS_ is a cause of my troubles.

- may not help that the worm is out to play today ..

Your site loads slow for one. But it definately needs a new design. Once I got inside I couldnt read anything, I had no idea where to go.

I am sure a decent designer can do a professional job and still maintain that amtateur feel.

Try http://www.geektools.com/traceroute.php for traceroutes from all over the net.

The domains is also not resolving from bellsouth.net, check the DNS entries

The site works for me. If you are stll down for some people get a traceroute or at least their ip and do a reverse traceroute yourself.

What others said, but I personally don't believe the design is that important for niche sites. If you have compelling content - they will come.

Take people's design advice, but to me the fundamental problem you have is NO TRAFFIC. With an Alexa rating around 700,000, you can't have more than a couple hundred people a day looking at your site, if that.

People can speak volumes on how to get traffic, but it all depends on yur niche. I'd scour the web if I were you for a sucessul web site in your niche, and then steal their ideas, ie., are they using galleries, toplists, banner exchanges, partner programs, whatever.

It works from earthlink.net. It acts like you just changed the DNS entry and it's still propogating. Or there's a problem with a DNS server giving out incorrect DNS info.

What's wrong with the site? The first picture on see shows no milk. On your preview page, the top four pictures have nothing to do with your niche.

The join link should be very visibile and easy to find. don't make the surfer search for the join link.
