Best way?
Stand around for about 45 mins to an hour and just watch. It takes alot to learn to play craps, but you can get the basics and make or lose money easily enough. Stay away from the sucker bets, or odds bets until you become more familiar with the way the game is played. first toss is called the Come Out roll. If you roll a 7 or 11 you win and the round is over before it started. If you roll a 2, 3, or 12 that's a Craps and you lose: again, it's over before its started. Any other number becomes the Point. The purpose of the Come Out roll is to set the Point, which can be any of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10. The Dealer places a puck marked "On" above the Point number printed on the table. This is about all you need to know to get started, and then, just watch what other people are doing, and try to figure out why they are doing it. Good Luck, and dont take your rent money. |

here is my favorite way to play
1. wait til one player rolls the dice and it lands on either 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 (dealer will put a marker on the number marking the come-out roll) 2.put the $6 on 6 and 8 3. once either 6 or 8 hits you will win $7 4. take all your money off the table 5. repeat the trick to this is, chances are a 6 or 8 will hit before a 7. if a 7 hits before your 6 or 8, u lose everything. good luck!

I hate to disagree with ya voodooman but craps is really a simple game. People are intimidated by the sheer number of bets you can make on a craps table and the layout, which often confuses them with the myriad of choices, BUT there are only a handful of bets that are worth making on a craps table.
There are two general ways to play. You can play the "don't" side of the game which essentially means you are betting against 99% of the people at the table and although your odds are much better the returns are lower and not too many people at the table are going to like you when you bet this way and it's not nearly as exciting, thus the "don't" gambler is a rare breed so we can safely ignore it for now. If you want to be a little conservative put your money on the pass line for the "come out" roll as explained by voodoo and wait for a point to be made. I'm assuming you know the basics of a come out roll so once the point is established make sure you take the maximum odds behind your passline bet keeping your bankroll in mind. IE- even if the table is 10x odds don't put $50 behind your $5 pass line bet if your bankroll is only $100. Also put money down on the 6 and 8 assuming one of them isn't the point. If one of those is the point and you want to (IE a little more risk is a-ok with you) you can also put a bet on the 5 or 9 since you don't have the 6 or 8 since it's the point. That's about the safest way to bet to maximise your odds BUT if you have the bankroll I suggest you make "come" bets as well. Come bets essentially is like putting money on the passline. Here's some books on the game that can give you advanced strategies for hedging bets and what not. Just keep in mind that they don't build those billion dollar casinos off of winners!! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/se...927660-9603146 |

Blackjack is the ONLY game you can statistically get in your favor, but to do that, you need to play perfect "basic strategy" (make the correct call for every possible combination of dealt cards) PLUS you need to know how to card count (which is most powerful in games where one or two decks are being used). If you do everything right, you can actually get a small edge over the house. Anyone who claims that there is a "system" for ANY other game than blackjack that will give you an advantage over the house is either lying or not educated on the subject.
Craps, while impossible to make profitable in the long run, can be played in a manner where you minimize the house edge to a degree where it is almost negligible (smaller than the spread of any game other than blackjack). I dont feel like writing all the details here, but basically this is what you do...you just put one bet unit on the pass line on the come out roll...whenever the come out roll establishes a "point" (as opposed to a 7 or 11 win or a 2 3 12 craps), you bet the house maximum on the "free odds" area (which isnt marked - it is the area behind the pass line)... and from that roll forward you will have a minimal disadvantage until the next come out roll. |

agreed...
Pass line with odds (depending on the point) is the way to go. Its a lot of fun, very energetic, and reasonably good odds if you read the probabilities of all the bets and STAY AWAY from all the fancy little hard-way bets and so on. Also figure out which points have the best probability and bet on them after the first roll. My favorite game! |

The odds bet is one of the only bets in the casino where you have an chance of even money.
My dad has been trying to get me to play craps for years, never understood the game until I went to vegas and played it myself. A lot of the casinos will offer free classes to learn to play, they want your money :-) Or, take a good friend, early in the morning when there is no one down there, get a good rapore with the dealers, and play. (It was kinda scary, my parents have been going to this one casino for years, all the crap dealers knew me by sight!) :-) |

TE, Your absolutely right, I was just trying to keep it simple, and this is GFY. Take TEs advice. I taught myself to play craps, which probably is the reason I always leave my money at the table. |

1) Throw a wad of money at the man in the center. Your handed nice clay chips that if you close your eyes, the $100 ones feel no different from the $5.00 ones.
2) Pile some of those beautiful chips on the line labelled pass and then when the hockey puck thing says ON put an even bigger stack of chips behind the original. 3) Bored with the chips in your hand? Throw them at the nearest guy with a name tag and say 6 and 8 or completely empty out and tell him INSIDE 4)Dice get rolled a bunch of times 5)The guy with the exit stage right stick yells "SEVEN OUT LINE AWAY, PAY THE DONTS, LAST COME GETS SOME!" and all those pretty chips disappear. Repeat step 1 until you've had enough and leave with a free beer or two. Seriously, craps is the best game for getting your heart going and the only game in the casino where its completely sanctioned to scream at the top of your lungs when your winning. Gotta love that. |

Craps is a very easy game. It simply 1 pass line bet, 2 come bets and max odds behind. Simple as that. Unless if you like playing the dont, this is the best way.

Just stick with poker or 21, at least ya got a chance there. Or do what we did, we figured we where gunna blow 300 on drinks and shit, so we just slowly bet the 300 and drank for free. |

1. Go to a casino
2.Listen for the loudest table in the house. 3. Go to that table and pick out the person with the biggest stack of chips. 4 Do Exactly what they do. In no time at all you will pick it up....

Craps is the fucking pimps game, I was thinking of buying a craps table and setting up a ghetto game down here in the south. It's already been said but 6 and 8 are your best bets. I like to fuck it up and play the field though if you're looking for quick high risk type of money.
