    Monetizing adult social network, how?

    Hi,

    I've been running an adult social network in Sweden for erh, I guess like 16 years now, and I'm starting to think about how to monetize the traffic.
    The site focuses on sex and sexuality, not produced porn, and contains alot of user generated content in form of photos, videos, sex stories etc.

    Today I run a freemium membership model as the only income. I have a lot of non-paying users though along with some anonymous traffic on the public content I provide.
    I have refused to contaminate the site with ads, but now I'm thinking that it wouldn't be too bad showing selected ads in strategic places.

    I'm thinking step 1 would be to show ads in the public content, but I'm also looking into showing ads in strategic places for non-paying users for example as video prerolls.

    Now, I'm a total newbie at this and there's a jungle of ad networks out there. I would like an ad network who can provide local or at least localized ads. I don't want to show hardcore porn stuff, I would prefer mainstream stuff but most of them don't allow adult sites.

    Help me out, where do I start, which ad networks could suit me, should I approach this from some other angle... any help, tips and suggestions are more than welcome

              You missed some magical days but it's cams, and non intrusive ads. I've done this without irritating a single customer for 18 years now. You can promote the performer signups as well, build a long term recurring income and do it with text links. Just say they are "your" cams, don't link to their raggedy ass sites, use API's to pull the cams onto your simpler internal pages and stack some cash.

                  Hi. Yeah that's my goal, to not annoy the users but still get some money out of it.
                  The site I run is all about user generated content so I wouldn't want to show any produced content as our own since we (the platform) don't provide any content at all today.
                  I guess I'll try with ads.

                      You're missing what I'm saying, my sites are user generated content as well.

                          And add one more thing for cams - your users must not leave your side. That is a big advantage for you. You generate the conversions direct on your website.

                                          Is your site structured so it would be useful for brands to have profiles on there and fit the vibe of the site? If there is a way to flow eyeballs more naturally that way, it could be an option.

                                          Some of it depends on what your users want. Do they want to buy site memberships or buy private cam shows or find new partners or find opportunities to show off their sexy selves? For a legit UGC site, a program like Chaturbate where they will pay you $50 for new cam broadcasters on their site could be a great fit for you. You already have a userbase who presumably likes to do exhibitionist activities.

                                          Basically, to not irritate people with advertising, the most important thing is to think about what adverts give additional value for your users and which would just use up real estate on your site where they would rather see something else.

                                              Easiest way as others have said here is to integrate cams. Pull live girls via API and display them as if they are profiles on your site, mixed in with real profiles.
