Here in Greece, lockdown will be till 11/1 and then they will see it if continues, I think no because now we have about 500 per day. They wait to see the results from NYE maybe... but I saw on the news that we are ready to open schools again.Comment

I hear UK is in tier 5 from Wednesday, military are to be involved with those who don´t cooperate.
While also in lockdown, this also means, Brits are restricted to staying in the UK, therefore, all self control has been eliminated and basic freedom and human rights have been reduced giving the government full control of the country, who and what is technically moving around.
This mutated strain has been found in other countries, how far will it go, the vaccine may not work, is this the end of life as we knew it, will we always have to continue with a distancing and coverings like masks to be worn from now and onwards?
The UK has also banned alcohol in takeaways and deliveries

That's pretty much exactly how I would sit, if I wanted to take a shit in a car in public.
Legs nice and wide, one foot raised up for leverage and one foot on the ground so you could really push hard. Well this was meant to be day 1 of the "lockdown similar to that of last March". Yet the roads etc were looking busy as ever.
People have had enough. And truth be told most have been told they can work so hence the traffic on the roads.
But yeah, this is nothing like the lockdown of March. So far.
People have simply had enough and don't think another month or two stuck at home will get us out this.
You start to wonder if the vaccine news has simply made everyone think "well we'll be vaccinated soon enough so.....all good."

Yes, of course China was and still is lying. Covid is reportedly more infectious than the flu. So if you can eliminate covid then you can also eliminate flu. Waste of time, you can't do either. I was also in China, Chengdu to be exact, end of January, early February. People still need to go out and eat. Some restaurants were open and this is Chinese food where everyone shares dishes in the middle using chopsticks.Comment

Lockdown like this did Sri Lanka for example. They also had airport closed for 10 months (soon going to be open)
So what? With airport closed, and strict lockdown for 10 weeks march-may, they "suddenly" had "outbreak" in October, that is going until now...

It's insane, almost like a virus will spread while there are people mixing in infrastructure, supply chains, and crazy shit like that, in a season that might just maybe possibly be a known perfect time for respiratory viruses to circulate. Good job it was suppressed and pushed forward all summer, and a bunch of people lost their livelihoods, businesses, sanity, and faith in the medical community.

Unless you shut literally everything, how does that work? How do you get food picked/prepared/delivered/stocked in stores that need staff from security to cleaners to shelf stackers to checkout operators to trolley collectors, and the people who need to go and dig the electricity up and pipe it around, or the drivers who need vehicles serviced, fuelled, and the infrastructure around fuel itself? And the phone companies? water companies? ISPs/internet infrastructure?
And that's just a tiny, tiny, tiny piece of the ecosystem.
It isn't the small percentage of people who yes, do ignore ALL rules, anymore than there is carnage on the roads because a minority are drunk, or drugged, or women (j/k!!), or
ignore speed limits. It's because there are millions here, and tens of millions in the US, who are mixing because infrastructure and supply chains are vital... look at new orleans I think it was a few years back? That was 4 days without infrastructure iirc, though I may be well off on that. 4 -6 weeks of that? Hmmm.

I think the issue is the false sense of security it gives, and people thinking it's ok to invade your personal space because 'masks'. As for wearing them outside in the open air if not in crowded areas (eg a concert, football match, etc) - just fucking LOL. They have their benefits in certain situations for absolute sure, but have become a talisman and likely do more harm (with people thinking it's some kind of 100% protection, and ignoring more substantive measures) as is.
Any smoker here has done the let out a puff of smoke just normally, with mask in place... not only does it come out the sides, therefore not directed downwards where your nostrils naturally aim (evolutionary feature?), there's hardly any difference whatsover in the smoke expelled. Now do that for something thousands and thousands of times smaller than smoke particles.
I'm not anti-mask per se, just rebuff the idea they are the magic bullet force field most think they are, whereby they still crowd into other people's personal space, whereas probably a better tactic would be to stay the fuck out of people's personal space in the first instance.Comment
