You ever get gifts from companies you do business with? I usually get a few packages a year from companies.

One company has sent packages for the past 5 years.

This year, my bill with that company was bigger than ever....but my package was the smallest it's ever been.

Is that insulting or no?

Used to get cool gifts every year. Custom engraved ipods, a bucket of lobsters, headphones, backpacks, a 21yr old bottle of Scotch (I don't even drink) hard drives, Amazon cards, etc.

My husband lost 30lbs and gained an inch. But that could be the Cialis or whatever nonsense he takes.

The VP wants to have a meeting with me in a little bit (we've been in hard negotiations for 2 weeks)....I want to press him about the little package just for shits and giggles. But the fact that I've been negotiating with him (and talking about moving somewhere else) is what I feel prompted my little package. Fucker.

Sounds like maybe your trash people aren't that great. Give them a $20.00 in a card anyway they will do better for just a small amount.

That's what I got, chocolates. They were actually quite delicious. They were sprinkled with some salty caramel bits. Mmm

So it's not that I don't appreciate it. However, this company for the last few years has normally sent me a large basket - like 4 times the size. So I was feeling slighted.

The lesson here is to start out small and go big, don't start out big and go small.

Back in 2004 I generated about 1/5 the sales I do now.

Back then I received 2 bikes, 4 ipods, gift cards like crazy, clothing with company logos like mad, coffee cups, note pads, a drawing pad, many company logo things like wireless mouse/keyboard, laptop, monitor, flipflops, sunglasses, many hats, many beer/whiskey glasses with company logos, tickets to Vegas with hotel room, hammock, beach chairs, so many things. Most I gave away as gifts to others.

This year: a few gift cards in so-so amounts, but nothing like before ($500 becomes $150), bluetooth ear buds (kind of nice surprise), wifi sockets (Alexa turn on the office lights) and a few cards.

Difference in 2004 to now? I'd say about $5000 to $500?

And the fact that I now send them 5 times the sales.

But it is what it is I guess. Crazy too is that I would imagine there are about 5% of us left who send what I did in 2004. So you'd think the ones that are left would get extra love? Or maybe they were sending me things and not the other 95%...

I´d suggest that 2020 has been a push on everyone and every business, many people worked hard this year and some have found themselves being made redundant.
