CDC now says masks protect both the wearers and those around them from Covid-19

(CNN) Wearing a mask can help protect you, not just those around you, from coronavirus transmission, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in new guidance Tuesday. The statement was an update to previous guidance suggesting the main benefit of mask wearing was to help prevent infected people from spreading the virus to others.

Cloth masks act as "source control" to block virus particles exhaled by the wearer and provide "filtration for personal protection" by blocking incoming infectious droplets from others, the CDC said in its new guidance.

The new guidance cites a number of studies showing that masks reduce the risk of transmitting or catching the virus by more than 70% in various instances. One study revealed mutual mask-use helped prevent two infected hair stylists from transmitting the virus to 67 clients who were later interviewed. Another followed infected people who spent more than 10 hours on flights without infecting other passengers when masks were used.

In several scenarios, when officials told people to wear masks, infections and deaths fell significantly, the CDC pointed out.

"Adopting universal masking policies can help avert future lockdowns, especially if combined with other non-pharmaceutical interventions such as social distancing, hand hygiene, and adequate ventilation," the CDC said.

Today a pretty girl sneezed close to me without her mask on so I asked for her phone number for the sake of contact traceability . . . You gotta try, I guess.

On the mask topic, almost everyone here has been wearing masks and we have one of th worst outbreaks in europe. They really, really do not do diddly shit. The fact of the matter is if you get it you get it and you can't do anything about it. You WILL catch it, and if you don't they have COVID-21 prepared already with the news from Denmark and the mutation from minks. Almost same day they announce a vaccine, a new mutation which is "immune against antibodies" emerges. Wear a mask if your laws require it, if not don't - it honest to god makes no fucking difference at all. Frankly, in rural Poland where mask usage was substantially lower they have less of an outbreak.

We've been told masks don't do shit, we've been told masks will save your life, we've been told remdisvir doesn't do shit, we've been told hospitals are running out of remdisvir and can't treat patients, we've been told aspirin makes it worse, we've been told aspirin saves people.

      Holy fuck, enough already

Back and forth. Do this, don't do this. Do that, don't do that.

This doesn't work, now it works, now it doesn't work again.

WHO, CDC, media and governments lost all credibility months ago. Well, the last two didn't have very much to begin with anyway.

The best way to not get covid-19 or at least to stay asymptomatic is: keep your vitamin D blood levels above 40ng/ml. So if you live above Rome's latitude and don't take vitamin D3 right now ... good luck to you and your loved ones. You're going to need it this winter. :D
