matrix fanatics: please explain..

Ive seen part one: decent movie but nothing special.

Im not a fan of the genre so that explains a lot.

But WHAT exactly is the hype about? I dont fucking get it.

The story? The special effects? WHAT?

Our lives are so boring, lacking purpose and meaning, that we look to escape into whatever artificial fantasy we can.

I know that for myself, what with nothing to look forward to day after day except working out, posting on this message board, fucking hotties, getting drunk, and engaging in subversive activities, without movies like the Matrix, I'd be bored silly.

anyway,
matrix has such a good story it puts u in the movie as if it could be "real".

and the special effects started a whole new generation of these types,

no to mention Charlies angels, the musketeer etc etc, all matrix style feels.

Unique? Good plot? Good cinematography? I dunno, why so much hype for anything? Matter of opinion.

when i watch a movie, i imagine myself as a part of it. getting away from the reality is fun. but if the movie sucks, you just cant put yourself in it. but matrix has a nice story, and good special effects, that don't make it look too artificial.

for me it wasnt so much the plot of the movie as it was the break through in special effects. never before were effects like that seen in a movie until the matrix. now its more then common to see those effects so hopefully reloaded will captivate with it's plot.

the story - the part about wakening up (the dream part)......

long story short I feelt like this for a long time in my past.
