I can't even begin to put into words how much Dokk means to me. He was someone I looked up to when I first came into the industry, one of the pioneers, an icon, and a person who later became my good friend who I shared many confidences with. He is truly one of the good guys. I am devastated to know that this has happened to him and it was painful to watch him this last few weeks on the boards. Please let me know if there is anything at all other than sending money I can do.

I've personally known Dokk for the past 7 years and its been a privilege to be friends with such a kind, gentle, giving individual.

I just sent some money to Dokk in his paypal. I'm glad so many people are helping him out. Dokk is a great guy and deserves to be treated with respect. I was concerned he didn't show up to our live show on friday, we heard nothing from him. I still have no idea what's going on, I just hope everything will be ok again soon.

Dokk has helped countless people in this industry, from Newbies to Oldtimers such as myself :) He was always just a chat or phone call away from anyone that needed help, words of wisdom, were down on there luck, etc. Even in the old days when I would be an ass and spam in his chatroom he would always just give me a little slap and let it go.

I want to again thank everyone for their kind words and financial support for Dokk and his family. It is very much appreciated by all concerned :)

I spoke to his Family and they really don't want to do anything further than his Paypal account which is understandable.

Some folks have emailed me and told me even if you don't have a Paypal account there is a way to send money from your credit card thru Paypal. It's called Instant Payment.

This thread is going to assist Dokk, as he moves forward, to understand how many people out there truly care about him and his Family. Please keep that in mind with your posts.

Just thought I'd add some background to those of you who are not as familiar with Dokk as some of us "older" folks ...

Dokk has helped newbies forever. Those of us "old guys" remember he was one of the founding members and an original official of Condom Project, moderator on the YNOT Network's newbie board, created his own resources, the Newbie Help Lounge and later Beginner's Luck ... all newbie-oriented resources and ahead of their time.

In later years he has continued, just in a lower profile manner. And still gives help on boards to newbie and even middlebees -- when there's a technical question, he's often the one to answer first (and often the only one to answer) and has the correct answer too! :)

Of all the industry web radio shows that have ever been created (those still here, those long gone, ever) safe to say 95% of them went through Dokk, were there only because of Dokk. Of the four or five radio show charity auctions that have been ever been held in the industry, again four of them or all five made the air because Dokk volunteered his time and equipment and resources and himself unhesitantly. Often manning the radio himself as MC for 18-20 hour stretches when they became live telethons. Again, charity auctions to help others.

His Negril Net webmaster conventions, besides being the most innovative conceived, is also a rarity in that big guys and smaller ones can hobnob together, in a relaxed atmosphere. How many conventions have you gone to where you've even gotten a chance to see major sponsor CEOs, or they've had time with all the running around to spend more than a few minutes saying hello if you introduce yourself? In Negril you can pretty much get many hours of quality time in over a week with the top guys. I don't think it's one way either; I think the big guys get something back from there hearing and being in touch with the average webmaster too; I think it works out beneficially for all involved ...

So whether his newbie efforts, the radio shows he's backboned on his network, his island convention (and much more), he's responsible in so many ways for getting people together in this industry, getting them information, giving his own information, getting people on the air where people can hear them and ask questions and learn. live at AWE's and Negril ....

Enough blathering. For those who didn't know, now you know a bit more about Dokk. For those who know him, maybe I've sparked a memory or two about how much this guy has done so much over the years for this industry.

Dokk is one of those strange cats, one of those types that cares about you and treats you like a long time friend even if he does not know you from Adam. He has always been honest straight foward and willing to help anyone if you just asked. Despite him being one of the innovators, and "big players" of this industry he never let it swell his head. Always down to earth and more than willing to give you his 100% on helping you succeed.
The amount of people he has directly and indirectly helped could never be listed nor counted I think. The time, energy, and persistance he has put into our business can not ever be measured.
I know when I first stumbled onto him, Dokk was almost to friendly. I really thought nobody could be this outgoing, friendly, and helpful to a nobody he just met like me without some sort of motive. I was so wrong, he never wanted a thing and if he ever asked for anything it was always for some other cause. A charity, some down and out webmaster, just never for himself.
I have never had the chance to meet him in person, I have only spoken to him on the phone, via icq, Mirc, and email. He has always been one of the few people I have wanted to meet. For no other reason than just to shake his hand and say thank you.
It causes me some pain to think of what he and his family must be going through. I hope with every fiber of my being that he gets the rest and assistance that he needs and deserves. I know he will be back and will get better, and he will be the first to talk about all of this and laugh at himself, just because that is the type of guy he is.
Dokk I feel safe in saying that many of us that know you, even those of us who have never really met you do love you and wish you a quick recovery.

DoKK is one crazy cat that is a blast to just shoot the shit with and is usually like clockwork when it comes to business. It was very odd when he started forgetting important dates and conversations we had. Rest will do him him fine and he will return stronger than ever.

I can not comment extensively on Dokk because I know him only from the CE radio show as well as from reading his posts. However, I do want to say that everything I have seen posted in this thread totally jives with what I know of the man. He has always struck me as an incredibly giving, intelligent, and warm-hearted individual topped off with a great sense of humor... his comments often crack me up. Dokk, I wish you a speedy recovery and I look forward to meeting you in person some time. Although it is a minisule token of support, I sent you a little something via Paypal in the hopes that it makes a positive difference. I urge everyone else out there to do the same. Even if you are like me and do not know Dokk intimately, it still is nice gesture to back up a brother in the industry when he is in a time of need.

Dokk would help anyone out and not ask for a thing in return.
Out of all the people on the net that I know, I have always respected Dokk the most.
I sat in hahahahahahahas chat room about 7 years ago, then condom project, and Dokk gave out some of his best se knowlege.
I sat on a telephone on tuesday nights doing the hahahahahahaha power networking workshop, and there was Dokk covering my butt, makeing it sound like I knew what I was doing when I only had about half a clue.
But its not all this that brings tears to my eyes, Its someone that I class as one of my best friends on the internet is down and needs to how much he means to me. . Dokk you got to get better man, your very much loved and respected, you have a heart of gold and you have so many people that love and respect you and you earned it from the things you have done.. you have got to come back to us, alot of newbies and webmasters would be lost without you. In my long time in the business (off and on) Dokk has always been a stand up guy.

I honestly couldnt guess how many lives he's touched in a positive way. There have been very few greater than this fella :)

I never met him, as I've never met anyone in the biz due to my reclusive nature, but I'd definately put Dokk at the top of the list of people to meet.

Hope all his problems dissipate without a trace, I'll remember you in my prayers buddy.
