Get well soon MON....

I've been fortunate enough to meet and talk with Dokk on a couple occasions and he ranks right up there with the coolest people I've met in this biz.

My best wishes to you and you family, Dokk.
And as Shemp said, you can count on The Shemp Group for support.

Take care.

freeadultcontent 05-12-2003 03:16 PM

Dokk is one of those strange cats, one of those types that cares about you and treats you like a long time friend even if he does not know you from Adam. He has always been honest straight foward and willing to help anyone if you just asked. Despite him being one of the innovators, and "big players" of this industry he never let it swell his head. Always down to earth and more than willing to give you his 100% on helping you succeed.
The amount of people he has directly and indirectly helped could never be listed nor counted I think. The time, energy, and persistance he has put into our business can not ever be measured.
I know when I first stumbled onto him, Dokk was almost to friendly. I really thought nobody could be this outgoing, friendly, and helpful to a nobody he just met like me without some sort of motive. I was so wrong, he never wanted a thing and if he ever asked for anything it was always for some other cause. A charity, some down and out webmaster, just never for himself.
I have never had the chance to meet him in person, I have only spoken to him on the phone, via icq, Mirc, and email. He has always been one of the few people I have wanted to meet. For no other reason than just to shake his hand and say thank you.
It causes me some pain to think of what he and his family must be going through. I hope with every fiber of my being that he gets the rest and assistance that he needs and deserves. I know he will be back and will get better, and he will be the first to talk about all of this and laugh at himself, just because that is the type of guy he is.
Dokk I feel safe in saying that many of us that know you, even those of us who have never really met you do love you and wish you a quick recovery.

DoKK, hope your well soon. I know all of us over here at ARS miss you & I miss talking with you on a weekly basis.

DoKK is one crazy cat that is a blast to just shoot the shit with and is usually like clockwork when it comes to business. It was very odd when he started forgetting important dates and conversations we had. Rest will do him him fine and he will return stronger than ever.

Cyndalie 05-12-2003 04:32 PM

I think a great way for those who Dokk has helped it to say THANK YOU is to NOMINATE Dokk for the WEBMASTER OF THE YEAR AWARD!!!

Please! He's helped me too and I think the small gesture would show great support..

To nominate http://WebmasteroftheYear.com and click Nominate.

If he wins he can get a FREE trip to Jamaica and some cash :) hehe... Sure he'll love that! Props to NegrilNet 2003 bash!

I'll be sending him my well wishes as well.

Much Love,
Cyndalie

I hope Dokk gets well soon as well but I nominated Luc Dubois for Webmaster of the Year.

ObnoxiousBitch 05-12-2003 06:28 PM

I just now heard about this, so 'scuse my late arrival on the scene...

Dokk's a great guy and a wonderful friend. Sending a few bucks through PayPal's no big deal to help someone who's helped so many people over the years, and brought smiles to the faces of people I love, too.

How much do I love ya, Dokkster?

Enough to post in this here sandbox! :1orglaugh Now that's sayin' somethin'!!!

Truly, hope you're back at the top of your game and all's well soon. We love ya and we'll miss ya!

SoBeGirl Video 05-12-2003 07:07 PM

Can someone post a pic of Dokk? I think I met him a few times but I am not sure..

Thanks,

Dokk has helped newbies forever. Those of us "old guys" remember he was one of the founding members and an original official of Condom Project, moderator on the YNOT Network's newbie board, created his own resources, the Newbie Help Lounge and later Beginner's Luck ... all newbie-oriented resources and ahead of their time.

In later years he has continued, just in a lower profile manner. And still gives help on boards to newbie and even middlebees -- when there's a technical question, he's often the one to answer first (and often the only one to answer) and has the correct answer too! :)

Of all the industry web radio shows that have ever been created (those still here, those long gone, ever) safe to say 95% of them went through Dokk, were there only because of Dokk. Of the four or five radio show charity auctions that have been ever been held in the industry, again four of them or all five made the air because Dokk volunteered his time and equipment and resources and himself unhesitantly. Often manning the radio himself as MC for 18-20 hour stretches when they became live telethons. Again, charity auctions to help others.

His Negril Net webmaster conventions, besides being the most innovative conceived, is also a rarity in that big guys and smaller ones can hobnob together, in a relaxed atmosphere. How many conventions have you gone to where you've even gotten a chance to see major sponsor CEOs, or they've had time with all the running around to spend more than a few minutes saying hello if you introduce yourself? In Negril you can pretty much get many hours of quality time in over a week with the top guys. I don't think it's one way either; I think the big guys get something back from there hearing and being in touch with the average webmaster too; I think it works out beneficially for all involved ...

So whether his newbie efforts, the radio shows he's backboned on his network, his island convention (and much more), he's responsible in so many ways for getting people together in this industry, getting them information, giving his own information, getting people on the air where people can hear them and ask questions and learn. live at AWE's and Negril ....

Enough blathering. For those who didn't know, now you know a bit more about Dokk. For those who know him, maybe I've sparked a memory or two about how much this guy has done so much over the years for this industry.

Get well soon, Dokkster! We're praying for you and we have your back, bro!

Drav - you've always had a way with words, we appreciate your post, it really describes much of Dokk's success with people and his innovations :thumbsup

I can not comment extensively on Dokk because I know him only from the CE radio show as well as from reading his posts. However, I do want to say that everything I have seen posted in this thread totally jives with what I know of the man. He has always struck me as an incredibly giving, intelligent, and warm-hearted individual topped off with a great sense of humor... his comments often crack me up. Dokk, I wish you a speedy recovery and I look forward to meeting you in person some time. Although it is a minisule token of support, I sent you a little something via Paypal in the hopes that it makes a positive difference. I urge everyone else out there to do the same. Even if you are like me and do not know Dokk intimately, it still is nice gesture to back up a brother in the industry when he is in a time of need.

Anyway, many people here were generous enough to help me out and showed tremendous support. I don't have a whole lot to give right now, but I just requested a funds transfer from my bank account to paypal. I will be able to send some loot on Wednesday.

Hope all works out well.

This thread actually makes me feel real good because of the support everyone has given Dokk.

Ron responding to everyone very classy:thumbsup

It always hurts when someone you know is in trouble so i feel the pain and wish him and his family the best.

SleazyBear 05-12-2003 09:23 PM

Damn this is like fucked up..
For those of you that don't know Dokk,
Dokk is like uncle milttie to adult webmaster radio.
Dokk would help anyone out and not ask for a thing in return.
Out of all the people on the net that I know, I have always respected Dokk the most.
I sat in hahahahahahahas chat room about 7 years ago, then condom project, and Dokk gave out some of his best se knowlege.
I sat on a telephone on tuesday nights doing the hahahahahahaha power networking workshop, and there was Dokk covering my butt, makeing it sound like I knew what I was doing when I only had about half a clue.
But its not all this that brings tears to my eyes, Its someone that I class as one of my best friends on the internet is down and needs to how much he means to me. . Dokk you got to get better man, your very much loved and respected, you have a heart of gold and you have so many people that love and respect you and you earned it from the things you have done.. you have got to come back to us, alot of newbies and webmasters would be lost without you. I would be lost without being able to pop in to the shows you host and say hi Dokk.. No one can do it like you can Dokk, your one in a million.. So drop you sox and grab your cock and come back..
We all love you and miss you.
May all your hits be clicks and all your clicks be $$$

BoogieCFZ 05-13-2003 12:47 AM

Hey, I just registered here to say...

In my long time in the business (off and on) Dokk has always been a stand up guy.

I honestly couldnt guess how many lives he's touched in a positive way. There have been very few greater than this fella :)

I never met him, as I've never met anyone in the biz due to my reclusive nature, but I'd definately put Dokk at the top of the list of people to meet.

Hope all his problems dissipate without a trace, I'll remember you in my prayers buddy.

Boogie

P.S.

FM, I cant think of a better person to be watching over him at this time. I think we all know you'll do him right!

TDavid 05-13-2003 05:54 AM

Yesterday, kara and I sent some money, FM.

Like many others here, I've done biz with Dokk over the years and anybody who knows and has dealt/deals with him professionally and/or who has just met him in person learns quickly that he has a huge and generous heart.

I am certain that when Dokk has the chance to read this thread and the other one, it will help to cement his understanding that he's touched many webmasters lives both online and off over the years and that he is loved and appreciated by many.

There is a lot to be said about giving back in this biz and Dokk, as Dravyk eloquently pointed out, has been one of the folks in this biz who has given back far more than he has taken.

I realize that money is tight for many folks right now and the economy is blowing chunks, but everybody Dokk has touched can at the very minimum put him in their prayers and thoughts and/or send along a few words of encouragement or a smile to him.

How many times has Dokk made you smile, chuckle or just bust out laughing at one of his shows or the many other events he has MC'd or hosted? I know for me the answer is many, many, many times.

Thank you, Dokk :thumbsup

fantasyman 05-13-2003 09:10 AM

Thank you to TDavid and all the others who have posted here.

It's obvious that Dokk has touched more hearts than just about any other Webmaster on the AdultNet without an affiliate program.

After talking to the family I've found that Dokk is progressing very quickly. There is a real good chance I'll be able to speak with him today.

When I do, I will be telling him how all the Webmasters are praying for him, supporting him and reminiscing about him. I can't help but think this will further his speedy recovery.

I want to thank all of you for this fantastic response for Dokk and his Family. He will be very surprised when he gets around to reading this thread!! :)

LeeNoga 05-13-2003 09:35 AM

We all know I could go on and on, but knowing me it would read like an obituary or sumpthin' :-))

Take all the time you need my brother, you have given more to us than we could re-pay in a lifetime.

I meant what I said to you on the phone.

Its worth repeating.

I LOVE YOU.

Anyhoo, we got a BBQ to get together!

Why 05-13-2003 09:55 AM

cheers to you DOKK, whoever you are. However i dont know you but judging by the extreme amount of respect shown in this thread from a lot of generally well respected heads, and people that i personally respect. so heres to you in wishing you a very quick and full recovery from whatever the heck it is that is bothering you! we all have our down days. good to see people are willing to help pick you up. most of us could only HOPE to have this much support.

Dianna Vesta 05-13-2003 11:15 AM

Not being on the boards much these days, I just read this. Mona and I both send our very best wishes to Dokk. He helped us with some info in our early days that was invaluable - really invaluable.

There are people in this industry who come through in the clinch. I know this from personal experience - we have had hard times in the last six months due to some unexpected medical happenings last year, and certain people were there for us.

On that note - we'll be sending something on Friday. I urge others to do the same. We can't afford much, but let's not forget that a LOT of people putting out a little bit of money is what drives this industry. Don't think of whatever you can do as not worth doing because it's a pittance - just do it. It'll all add up. Anyone who's ever rolled cigarettes for a pack of smokes know what I'm talking about. :)

Get well soon, Dokk.

Senior moments are acceptable.

Of course, meaning measurement in years of experience and not necessarily by your age :-)

I've never known Dokk personally, or I should say, I've never actually met him. I do know him from the shows, and he always threw a GREAT thursday night shindig for us over at ANS.
I'ts hard to know Dokk abd NOT feel like he's a personall friend.
I know that what he is going through is a scary thing for all involved. You have so many friends Dokk, all pulling for ya and praying for ya. I do hope you are back to 100% soon man, and best wishes to you and yours. PBmax

Grinder thank you very much :)

I'll keep in mind how close you are if the family needs anything. Ompi is in Marietta and he has been a great help!!

Grinder 05-14-2003 07:12 AM

I knew that Ompi would be helping out. He lives just a couple of miles from me. And I'm sure that his Corvette can make it there a lot faster than my family mini-van :)

There are a lot of us Atlanta webmasters that knew Dokk (or knew of him) during the 80's when he ran a BBS network, way before the web. I know several local webmasters that will also do whatever they can.

I'll drop Ompi an email and let him know that he can call me if he needs help.

Dokk, we are all together here playing in your thread and having a good time like you taught us to have.

I know you don't want me to throw PK into a mouth of a fish but in the event she hocks a hairball I can use that to chum the waters up there at Lake Lanier :-)

Another day almost gone, and another day you are getting so much better.

We love you :-)

Lee and PK - I'm sure Dokk will appreciate the humor when he reads this thread, kinda like the old days, when we used to play too :)

Grinder ompi said he got your email and appreciates your offer. He'll be in touch :)

I actually spoke to Dokk today and he sounded great! He appreciates all the love and support, but I'm sure he'll tell you all that on his own when he's back in action!!
