Paypal Ends Adult Payments

I just got this from PayPal:

"PayPal has updated its Acceptable Use Policy to simplify the policy on transactions of adult items. After June 12, 2003, PayPal will no longer process transactions for adult items through the Mature Audiences category on eBay.com. As a result, after June 12, PayPal will no longer process payments for adult items anywhere on the Internet.

So what is another service that we can use?

Joe

StormPay has a great setup and a well thought out system to replace PayPal for Adult.

Check it out on the link below.

BidPay is pretty decent, they don't rape the seller with transaction fees either.

From hearing from various sponsors and reading the documents myself, it doesn't count for paying out affiliates. Buying content definitely as well as memberships are gone, but webmaster payments aren't effected. (Untill paypal decides to rewrite their rules again).

Tony, if you are not offshore these days you've got your hands tied by US fucked up everchanging regulations constantly.

Think internationally!

Actually issuing and acquiring are two different arms of Visa, whether international or US. And from what I've heard they don't always get along.

The issuing arm is obviously supposed to get as many cards into the mail as possible, but the acquiring arm is supposed to make sure the cards are used in a manner that the OWNER OF THE CARDS (which would be the bank and the CC brand) deem acceptable. Acquiring is also supposed to be front line fraud control.

My questions regarding StormPay -- or any other type of payment system -- would be as follows:

1. Who controls the funds?

2. How are these funds guaranteed?

3. If a problem arises how will I get service?

4. What regulations does the bank that is handling the transactions fall under?

5. Is this bank in a stable area, if not located in the US and FDIC guaranteed?

6. What sort of fraud control methods does this service employ?

7. How long has the company, or its principals if the company is new, been in business and what kind of history do they have?

8. What is this bank or company's relationship with the card brander -- in this case Visa I guess --

I would highly suggest this research for anyone tying their money up in any system, and would hope the people pushing their product can answer them fully and fairly easily.

I paid for design work via StormPay (first and last time I ever use them).

They do not process, they use another company

As far as why PayPal dropped adult, there was a thread about it recently --- it had to do with a lawsuit brought by --- I think --- naughtybids.com (but don't quote me on that)

You can fund storm pay accounts with:

GlobalPay

Kagi

E-Gold

NetPay

E-Bullion

EvoCash

900Pay

PrePaidATM

GlobalPay provides the ATM cards for the StormPay Network. The bank is First National Bank of Central Texas. You get a US bank account with this card so if you need to do wire transfers, retail shopping on your StormPay account, etc.

Your funds are FDIC Insured.

You can move money back and forth online into your GlobalPay account from your StormPay account.

You can withdraw funds by:

A regular check.

Transfer to your GlobalPay ATM card and take it out at any ATM worldwide.

Or transfer funds to your personal or business checking / savings accounts.

Its just another alternative out there with a lot more flexibility than PayPal.

And yes Kimmy the GlobalPay card is a real ATM card not virtual.

If not, I am sure there are grounds to sue. They assured people they were serious about the adult business, and wouldn't be going anywhere. Then they charged this fee. Then they dumped all the adult business.

Got to say that besides getting our own merchant account we will be switching to Epassporte and they have been very helpful so far.

Even Kimmy has helped and it's no secret we've had a few run ins.

Since Epassporte is a offshore company with non US processing, dont webmasters have to worry about losing their US Visa processing like with the other foreign processors? That was the story the third party processors told us including epoch who were charging the $750. I mean if I added say globil as my secondary I could lose my US Visa account with my primary. How is epassporte diffferent? And do you guarantee what you say on that question in writing? I hate to be the voice of reason but I would hate to see alot of my fellow webmasters losing their US Visa processing

Ok, here goes.

1. Who controls the funds? ePassporte, under the direct supervision of Visa International's issuing department.

2. How are these funds guaranteed? They are held in what amounts to escrow in the Interchange system itself, not sucked up into some bank that may or may not have a clue as to how to handle these types of high risk transactions.

3. If a problem arises how will I get service? you can email me, you can email anyone else at ePassporte, or you can call us. Of course you can also post on any of the various messageboards and someone will answer as well.

4. What regulations does the bank that is handling the transactions fall under? Our banks are in full compliance with Visa regulations and in a stable banking area.

5. Is this bank in a stable area, if not located in the US and FDIC guaranteed? answered in 4

6. What sort of fraud control methods does this service employ? We utilize the same type of fraud control for low risk transactions that we do for high risk, something that we've been doing for nearly 7 years now.

7. How long has the company, or its principals if the company is new, been in business and what kind of history do they have? see 6.

8. What is this bank or company's relationship with the card brander -- in this case Visa I guess -- the ePassporte model is one that was developed in conjunction with Visa International in order to be compliant with their rules and regulations. We also have an excellent rapport with both issuing and acquiring since we have years of experience with these folks.

No, taking ePassporte as a peer to peer transaction does NOT constitute a credit card transaction. Further, funding an ePassporte account with an existing credit card does not violate cross border acquiring since the transactions are acquired and settled in the country of origin.

Using ePassporte as a method of accepting payments is basically the same as accepting Paypal, it is a peer to peer transaction.

I am guaranteeing what I say in writing here, by writing it down

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have as well --

My account was suspended on May 1st. I supposed to get my 1500 back plus the money in the account. I called paypal and asked they told me 6 month to get my money back in the account and 4-6 weeks to get my 1500 back

Actually I've just returned from the Paypal Connect conference in San Francisco, and I can tell you that from what I saw and heard it has nothing to do with someone suing them...

Their methods of fraud control are simply not compatible with the adult revenue models and since the % of their business that is affected is miniscule in comparison to the rest of their income, there is no real reason for them to stay in the adult marketplace.

The question did come up more than once and no one -- not ONE person from customer service to corporate management, had anything to say negatively towards the industry itself.

It's a simple situation, similar to why AMEX had to leave adult. If you can't control the fraud, you can't be in the business.

Yikes, if it's a Dominican bank RUN, don't walk away from it. I worked in Santo Domingo and Haina for 2 years and it's the most corrupt place I've ever been in. You could kill someone there in front of a cop and give him a fifty and no one would know about it.

ePassport looks pretty good to me. I think we'll definatly try to integrate it into our system.

Don't do it - Yahoo has also banned adult payments. Read this:

Customers won't be able to pay through PayPal rival Yahoo! PayDirect, either. Adult-themed purchases also violate the Sunnyvale-based company's long-standing service agreement.

Article from this weeks Miami Herald...

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald...ss/5809608.htm

One other thing I should take the time to mention about ePassporte.

While we will have a referral system in place shortly, it is NOT and will NOT be any type of mlm scheme. It will be a straight payout on new accounts only and there will be no downlines or levels or anything of that nature.

This scares me and it will scare customers, its foreign and not known. Where paydirect is federally insured.

It is in DOMINICA not Dominican Republic. It is a small ( very small) island in the Antilles next to Martinique, Barbados, etc...
Nice place to go...

Don't do it - Yahoo has also banned adult payments. Read this:

Customers won't be able to pay through PayPal rival Yahoo! PayDirect, either. Adult-themed purchases also violate the Sunnyvale-based company's long-standing service agreement.

Thats not true I read the service agreement for pay direct and I will call them on the phone. The yahoo agreement talks about obscenity and The things I have to sell arent obscene.

StormPay appears to be a multilevel marketing scheme. Paypal was not and is not that at all.
