you mean day trading? don't do it unless you can afford to lose all your money.

there's some value out there if you can find it. but thats more of a buy and hold strategy.

You have a better chance of making money gambling on sports.

Lol, if that's your serious opinion then yes, YOU can make more money on sports betting.. however if you have some brains or know what to look out for (which is really not that hard) you can make some easy money daytrading.. in the end both is just gambling.. you just need to check the odds.

Stocks are the best performing long term investments you can have.

Below are the best and the worst returns at various holding periods in stocks, bonds, and cash averaged since 1802.

Stocks: 1 Year holding period: +66% to -38.6%
Bonds: 1 Year holding period: +35.1% to -21.9%
Bills: 1 Year holding period: +23.7% to -15.6%

Stocks: 5 Year holding period: +26.7% to -11.0%
Bonds: 5 Year holding period: +17.7% to -10.1%
Bills: 5 Year holding period: +14.9% to -8.2%

Stocks: 10 Year holding period: +16.9% to -4.1%
Bonds: 10 Year holding period: +12.4% to -5.4%
Bills: 10 Year holding period: +1.6% to -5.1%

Stocks: 20 Year holding period: +12.6% to +1%
Bonds: 20 Year holding period: +8.8% to -3.1%
Bills: 20 Year holding period: +8.3% to -3.0%

Stocks: 30 Year holding period: +10.6% to +2.6%
Bonds: 30 Year holding period: +7.4% to -2.0%
Bills: 30 Year holding period: +7.6% to - 1.8%

If you are a short term investor stocks are riskier than bonds and cash. But at 20 to 30 year holding periods equities are indeed safe based on historical averages.

I recommended a hot stock play on the boards here recently.

NASDAQ Symbol UBET

Website http://www.youbet.com

Financials: http://finance.yahoo.com/q?d=t&s=UBET

When I got the recommendation it was at .50 cents per share. I posted here on the board a strong buy indicator still at $1.50. It closed Friday at $3.27.

Here's a riddle:

I played stocks for awhile and wound up with ~$300,000... except I can only use $3000 of it every year...

What happend?

I recommended (two months ago) and still strongly recommend INGR (geospatial software)- the chart should be enough to pique your interest. If anyone wants more detail feel free to talk to me on icq (13384735).
