Yahoo fucks you on the adult site submission, every time. It's a joke. Don't bother.

Hard to come by indeed. Nevertheless, you should be safe with 2 submissions if you have a decent site (much and quality content). Including the reconsideration mail included with each $600 you will have 4 shots for $1200. That normally brings you in. The traffic quality is pretty good, better even than average SE traffic such as Altavista (more newbies at Yahoo I guess). Listed sites get about 50 to 50,000 uniques per day, depending on your ranking, category, keywords in title and description.
Can be a real bummer, can be the opposite as well.
AVS that converts AND sends traffic. Be a good guy and use my link: ProAdult

(Fairly new, so you won't share the link list traffic with 10,000 other webmasters over there :D )

I'm sure listed sites get good traffic, but I don't ACTUALLY know anybody who's gotten a site listed, so it's quite a gamble.

fart, are you sure about the 50,000 ??? Yes, a listing can net you only about 50 uniques a day, and if you're one of those sites (which is 95%), I can assure you that you threw away your money. What's your site, I can probably tell you how much traffic you'll get.

                jimmy-three-way,

i don't know anyone who has got in either. but i really don't know anyone who has tried. do you know anyone who has tried? how many?

it would be nice to figure out if your site will pass the criteria before you spend the $600. and assuming you will be listed, it would be nice to figure out if that $600 is worth it.

Last year when the listings were $199 I paid for two sites to get listed. I was really hesitant to pay up, but I did and got both sites accepted. They were paysites. One had about 10,000 pics and the other one had about 750 pics and some feeds.

Looking back I feel I should have done it earlier. I did make it back in the first day. Today it would probably take a few days.

If you are going to pay, make sure there is alot of pics and very little junk. If anything, clean up you site while it is under review, you can always make changes after it is accepted.

xapster, you have balls to post pics of alyssa milano nude.

Again, most sites will only receive 50-100 a day on yahoo. Paying 600 for a listing could potentially be worthless.

                        xApster,

wow. only a 50 hit/day link for a site with as many pics as yours, all organized and no bullshit... that's not worth $600.

what's your $$$/hit ratio of that site? you can figure out how fast that $600 pays off. if you make $1 for every 250 visitors (what i get) then it would take about 8+ years at 50 hits/day to pay it off! ouch!

Probably spidered pages that were on a tgp or someplace.

Currently I have one getting 400/day, before I had for about a year one that got 3,000/day untill it got delisted (no reason, no answer to my question why - they delisted about 150 sites from that category in that day). As for 50,000: I never had such a site there but: Look at the goto serach suggestion tool, which phrases get real many searches, then search for them at yahoo, and you'll see that there are (very few 3-5 or so) sites that really get about that traffic, because they come up #1 all the time for about 4,5,6 or 7 absolute popular phrases.

"If anything, clean up you site while it is under review, you can always make changes after it is accepted."

Yeah but careful, they really delist sites. Better don't do any changes in the first weeks, and then only slightly. There are always enough competitors to bitch about you. They indeed do not care much about whining emails from others but if you have bad luck and one of the editors catches you you're gone in a second.

On the other hand, you could be delisted without any faults too, so you indeed should see to optimize it and make your money.

But I don't recommend to submit it MUCH cleaner than you're going to run it after the listing. The editors know that people want to make money, and when they see a site beeing submitted with almost no ads they'll assume that you will cause them work later on because you're perhaps going to change it later, and they hate changes like tgp owners hate galleries beeing changed after listing.

(I mean relevant changes not updates etc.)

Also, if you say "only 2-3 hits a day" don't mix up the directory listings ("web SITE results") and the search engine listings ("web PAGE results") provided by google. If you submit through bizex you are in the web SITE results and they always get displayed before the google results. Normally at each search you have a few result pages with directory listings first, then come the google listings, and they get less hits if any at all. But if there is no site with that search phrase in the yahoo directory, a page listed only in google can be #1 in yahoo as well, but only then.

I have a webmaster that submitted half a dozen sites, they were all similarly designed, with a lot of picture content, some subscription content, and Yahoo listed ONE but didn't list the other five, and they were all of the same quality. Weird...and unpredictable.

Dom, what's your site??? Again, I can give you a rough approximation about how much traffic you'll receive. But then again, it will be an approximation. Chances are you'll be one of the sites that gets only around 50 a day.

                                        Here's why.

Yahoo receives 1 billion page views everyday.
My guess is that about half of the visitors actually search yahoo, the other half use yahoo for mail, auctions etc. So at that point, the yahoo directory receives about 500 million searches. Now, considering the fact that there are about 800,000 sites in the yahoo directory, that means the average site will only recieve about 60 visitors a day. But you have to remember that's the average. The "typical" site on yahoo probably recieves closer to about 40-50 visits. And the chances of you making it in is about 1 in 3, depends how clean your site is really though. So at 1200 dollars, you get to tries for the 600, you really have to make sure that your site is more than just one of the typical 40-50 hits a day site.

                                        So, what's your site???

                                        Originally posted by Dom:

About 5-6 sales a day (ARS)
AVS that converts AND sends traffic. Be a good guy and use my link: ProAdult

(Fairly new, so you won't share the link list traffic with 10,000 other webmasters over there :D )

BTW it was about 3,000 hits to the sponsor. I didn't count the visitors. Must have been about the double I'd say. Had a full page ad at the front and that actually made all the sales. I believe not more than 50% of the visitors made it to behind the FPA so it should have been about 5-6k visitors a day, probably a bit less than 5k.

Did yahoo submit your site with the fpa, or did you put it in after you go listed?

I submitted it with fpa, did that always and they never had a problem with fpa's in my case (or others as well). The deletion of that site wasn't due to any changes on my site or adding a fpa, they just deleted it period (?) with no changes done on my side.

There are also a lot of sites with enter and/or exit consoles in the directory. I never used them for yahoo sites but that seems to be o.k. as well.

FPA seems to be absolutely o.k. with yahoo as long as the enter link can be found.

I would always submit with fpa (if suitable to the site - a membership site probably doesn't want to have a fpa), and when they decline, you still could remove it and then tell them about it in your reconsideration mail (which is included in the $600).

I had a BDSM site listed on yahoo and made $1200 a month just off that listing until I lost the registration due to an old mistake

I had a listing back in the old days when they were accepting submissions for free..

I was getting like 3000 hits..

but then, lots of people came on top of me (name was All free Scanner Vault)

and they changed my description... Links to picture... wtf is that description... I prolly get like less than 400 now, redirecting it all to a sponsor
