Cannot argue with genetics or Charles Darwin.Dude...you guys were like 30% of the cases in the entire USA. You're governor pushed covid cases into nursing homes killing 10s of thousands of elderly people.
Are you even serious with this?
I'm all for better training but you need to focus on the people committing the crime.
And if the non-whites are committing 87-97% of the violent crime (And they are, backed by crime stats) then you need to focus on those people.

It should have stayed named New Amsterdam thenAhh now THOSE were the good ol' days!!!
I am too young to have experienced those 70's years. I got into NYC in 1986 or so but boy how I remember hookers in Times Square! And 25 cent peep shows, buddy booths, glory holes at the YMCA (with duct tape so you wouldn't prick your prick), touch 'em strip shows ($2 for the top, $3 for the bottom), blowjobs in the Show World parking lot for $5....sigh.
Now it's all Disney and the M&M store. Horrible.
.
I can get a (tranny) blowjob (on the street) for 5 USD around here . . .Comment

I miss the times when squeegy guys get mad at you for not paying them for the work they did on your windshield
Also, the smell of piss on Broadway was enough to reconnect the human soul to eternal truths
Thank goodness, DeBlasio is doing a great job bringing back the 1970s New York of "Taxi Driver"Comment

Gosh, I don't even know what to say. I think Cuomo fucked up with the nursing homes and DeBlasio still doesn't have a plan in place for restaurants to open. There was little mask wearing in my neighborhood and most of Brooklyn. I walk an average of 10 miles a day and I see first hand. Today bars are open and some are full inside with patrons at the bar, sitting next to each other. After the protests last week, social distancing is over.New York State has led the way on two major fronts this year: Covid-19 and racism/police reform. While other States are seeing their coronavirus numbers going UP New York State now has the lowest % of Covid-19 cases and is handling the re-opening in a smart, safe way that is not leading to a spike in cases. Wow!
While looting and rioting did happen in New York City it was handled quickly and we got it under control. Now? Governor Cuomo and the NYS legislature have signed into law the most sweeping police department reforms in history. No more choke holds, no more blatant racism in dealing with minority communities, independent investigations into police misconduct....wow!
New York State has always led the way in social change and reform and I am PROUD to be a New Yorker on this day!
America: follow the leader and start enacting these new policies now.

Also, I think the riots were handled badly. The Village and Soho are a mess. They just let people run amok the first night.
The legislation passed is good. I'm glad that cops' disciplinary records are no longer sealed.
I'm hoping NYC rebounds fast. My fortune is tied to it. Found a partner and opening 3 shops, two in Manhattan one in Astoria. This deal would have never happened without the pandemic. Gonna be interesting to see how fast we get back to "normal"... God bless America!!!Comment

Hey that's when NYC was fun, interesting and dangerous. LOL Too bad I missed out on it. I would've gotten a killer apartment in a pre-gentrified neighborhood for $150 a month.I miss the times when squeegy guys get mad at you for not paying them for the work they did on your windshield
Also, the smell of piss on Broadway was enough to reconnect the human soul to eternal truths

Now being in Manhattan is like being stuck in a dystopian Disney yuppie nightmare.
Bring back the streetwalkers and bookies!!
Well, about the nursing homes: where were these sick elderly people supposed to go after being treated for Covid-19 and released? It's not like they could go to a hotel room (like homeless did and others with Covid-19). Unfortunately nursing homes are the only facilities who can manage and care for such patients. And since they are all owned privately there's little a State can do besides lift licenses, impose fines, etc. Still, compared to other States, Cuomo got it right I think.Gosh, I don't even know what to say. I think Cuomo fucked up with the nursing homes and DeBlasio still doesn't have a plan in place for restaurants to open. There was little mask wearing in my neighborhood and most of Brooklyn. As for people in Brooklyn gathering: I am in Manhattan and I see the same things. But that's on the individuals, not Cuomo. I see people "wearing" masks down around their necks! Like, wtf you asshole idiot!! I don't understand why you wouldn't wear a mask just to be more safe than sorry.
The riots and looting were bad but relatively short lived. It was made 1000x worse because of the lockdown and everyone being cooped up inside their apartments.
By Summer's end I could be taking back my proud of New York stance but for now it's looking good. We shall see. Good luck with your pizza joints!! I will come to the Grand Openings.

You don't remember when everyone used to carry $20 in their wallet so when they robbed you they wouldn't shoot you? And everyone used to have mace on their keychain? And "don't go in Central Park at night remember those tourists who got their throats slit" and "never go above 96th"? And subway booth attendants used to get burned alive in their booths? And women used to get raped literally on the A train?
It wasn't gritty, it was rough. The drugs were bad and the hookers were beaten every week. There was like one good hooker at any one time.
The rich people had their limos and their security and they went to clubs we couldn't get in.
I agree the place has become a sterile nightmare of condos and chain stores but I'd rather the late 90s.Comment

Yes true, the "Taxi Driver" of the Seventies would not be cool to relive I agree. I just miss all the girls at Show World I guess. The Nineties were 'the sweet spot' in New York City. Just enough cool to be cool while 100x safer and cleaner. Plus, the music was better when CBGB's and The Bottom Line were still around. Oh - and actual cafes instead of Starbucks on every corner. My Affiliate Programs:
