    Proud To Be A New Yorker!

    New York State has led the way on two major fronts this year: Covid-19 and racism/police reform. While other States are seeing their coronavirus numbers going UP New York State now has the lowest % of Covid-19 cases and is handling the re-opening in a smart, safe way that is not leading to a spike in cases. Wow!

    While looting and rioting did happen in New York City it was handled quickly and we got it under control. Now? Governor Cuomo and the NYS legislature have signed into law the most sweeping police department reforms in history. No more choke holds, no more blatant racism in dealing with minority communities, independent investigations into police misconduct....wow!

    New York State has always led the way in social change and reform and I am PROUD to be a New Yorker on this day!

    America: follow the leader and start enacting these new policies now.

      lol you guys have the lowest cases because you now have immunity since at one point you were the epicenter with the most cases

      And NYC is the safest big city in America because Rudy was tough on crime (Broken Windows, anyone?) You're literally doing the opposite of what Rudy did in the 90s.

      Check back here in 5 years and see what NYC looks like when you get easy, instead of tuff on crime.

          Nope. We have the lowest cases BECAUSE WE WERE SMART, DIDN'T OPEN DUE TO POLITICAL PRESSURE AND HAVE BEEN DISCIPLINED AND RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS. Immunity from Covid-19 has not been proven yet.

          You can still be tough on crime and NOT be a racist. You can still be tough on crime AND be a law abiding police officer who will protect, serve and help communities and not see enemies everywhere.

          And let's hope 5, 10, 20+ years from now we won't see anymore innocent citizens choked to death.

              Dude...you guys were like 30% of the cases in the entire USA. You're governor pushed covid cases into nursing homes killing 10s of thousands of elderly people.

              I'm all for better training but you need to focus on the people committing the crime.

              And if the non-whites are committing 87-97% of the violent crime (And they are, backed by crime stats) then you need to focus on those people.

                      Again you can "focus on crime" AND still not be a racist murderer. Why is that so hard for people to understand? No one is saying do not arrest criminals. People are saying STOP KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE and alleged criminals. It is not the job of cops to be executioners.

                      And please stop with all the Covid-19 misinformation and political bullshit. Wear masks, stay at home, STOP gathering in large numbers and wait it out. Like real men dammit!!

                              I am too young to have experienced those 70's years. I got into NYC in 1986 or so but boy how I remember hookers in Times Square! And 25 cent peep shows, buddy booths, glory holes at the YMCA (with duct tape so you wouldn't prick your prick), touch 'em strip shows ($2 for the top, $3 for the bottom), blowjobs in the Show World parking lot for $5....sigh.

                                  New york has certainly had it this year, however, Sanchez, the PM for Spain, and the Spanish communities have most definitely handled the COVID19 pandemic better than any other country.

                                  The virus hit on the 13th of April, by the 14th we were in lockdown and 2 weeks later, our figures were dropping, and now, for the past month, we have zero covid19 cases on the Orihuela Coast and only a few throughout Spain.

                                                      This whole thing is ridiculous and honestly you always come across as a pretty sensible guy so I'm kind of surprised at your take on this. Because on the totem pole of black people problems, this should be like near the absolute bottom.

                                                      8 unarmed black men (We'll talk about blacks because whites & asians could care less when the cops take out criminals) have been killed in 2 years. Considering there are 44 million black people in the US, If you're black you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning 12+ fucking times in a year before a cop kills you. And no, that's not hyperbole (look it up).

                                                      Meanwhile 80 (yes EIGHTY) fucking black people were shot in a small section of a city in America last weekend.

                                                      And PS - black people have the same homicide rate here as they do in Botswana.

                                                          Well it all depends on your perspective I suppose. I am very hard on crime and believe in keeping order, etc. But at the same exact time I hate seeing innocent people of any color abused by people in power.

                                                          I am not going to debate statistics or angles or perspectives or history or any of that stuff. I am just saying changes CAN be made and New York is (again) leading the way in making some of those changes. More is needed but it's a great start.
