Is the game still worth it?

I have a bunch of sites that I have done nothing with in a while. Maybe it's just me, but I found it aggravating to constantly keep up with the ever changing program links when a program switches how you get paid or if they change or get rid of certain performers for whatever reason. Is this business really worth it anymore? There is a battle of link trading and the ever changing google algorithms. I've got plenty of server space and my current industry seems like I keep getting pay decreases rather than pay increase. Shits getting old. I always liked doing my own thing even though it takes work but it seems to me that adult sites just become harder and harder to get traffic too and let's face it, are almost a 24hour maintenance thing with trying to keep fresh content. Should I give it another go or GTFO. Yes I know the is gfy and I'll get a lot of GFY smart ass answers but some helpful ones as to why I should try again or not try would help.

Well this is a personal choice of course. Only you can decide if something is "worth it" or not so let's start there.

What are your expectations? To make a full-time income? To make six figures working from home? If so then yes it takes a LOT of work BUT, for most of us achieving this level, it's absolutely "worth it". But let's say your Goal is a few extra hundred bucks a month. Even then, for many, it's "worth it".

Now the hard part: what is your time worth? What do you value your time as being? In other words, if you only have a couple hours a week to devote to this then you may get frustrated and quit. But if you have the time, and the financial need is there, why not give it a shot? But give yourself a reasonable time frame of 3, 6, 12 months. If you are not happy with results/revenue then make a new decision. But chances are if you are already asking "is it worth it?" you are halfway there to trying anyway.

      Have luck!

I have done it before and it took quite a while to see a return of just even $200 a month. I goes im also asking is does everyone here get the same frustrations I get when a program changes something and then you have to go and change all your links and keeping up with this affiliate program and that affiliate. Is 6 figs even possible now? How much time does a person have to dedicate to reach that mark. I realize everything is long term and takes time to grow, but how much time as in man hours per day does it take to maintain once you're at a certain level. Is it still above and beyond 8hours a day 5 days a week or is it 7 days a week. I have 4 YouTube channels. One of which I finally was able to monetize again. It currently gets $10 a month just starting out. I also keep growing it. Get others are there but I do work another job that sometimes I probably could double dip and do this stuff there, but I don't due to internet access and who watches with ips, and such. I know money is possible and that's the concern. I dont need my hand in one pot but I like to spread the eggs out. Youtubing building model airplanes takes work and I make money doing something I enjoy. I don't want to destroy myself though and stress just to make income. I've seen how people here have a fit when they work so hard and Google changes an algo and they drop from 1 to 50. That's what I worry about and I havent even maintained much.

Given all that I wouldn't bother. Yes it takes time, especially starting from scratch.

I have a small network of blogs that is still doing well. I don't put much effort into them. I do one short update per week and still make about $1k a month from them. For the amount of effort I put into them.... It's well worth it for me.

How many is a small network. I have a few tgps and a couple blogs. But it took a couple years just to start seeing something and that seems like I had to do a lot of link trading and chameleon submitting and such. Seemed like a lot of work to grow them. That was in 2008 when I started. Got frustrated.

It is definitely harder than before, there is much more competition and big players like PornHub, but you can still make good money as an affiliate.

It's the usual. 99% has not. 1% has. You decide what percentage range you would like to be in.

Shitton of money in anything you put your ass into. Amount of money doesn't just dissapear, just moves around. You seem like you don't know what you're doing (at least in this field) so use the time and put it elsewhere, because now it will (again) feel like it's "not worth it".

The affiliate game has changed a bit, but is certainly still thriving. Some have changed the percentage of affiliates they focus on and mixed in direct traffic buys to increase returns by optimizing the campaigns internally. Our NATS software helps them manage these things and we continually add new affiliate programs owners and sites.

Depends on your marketing skills and knowledge of what can be achieved. Perhaps diversify and attempt to do traffic buys to some degree. There is no one formula and many ways to skin the cat.

                                depends on your traffic source

paid traffic, it's almost impossible to make it as an affiliate these days, because affiliate programs and ad networks are buying the same traffic you are, and have an edge over you (due to owning the traffic and/or program)

social or search engine traffic? affiliate game is still very strong

                                        Seven blogs.

I used to have a few hundred. During the recession it was my only income. Every day, five days a week, I would wake up in the morning and buy four new domain names, set up wordress on each, and slam in a dozen posts quickly, and then link them all up. In the afternoon I went back over the older blogs and wrote longer more detailed blog posts for the older blogs. Used to be decent money.
