because of email viruses and shit do you guys have a seperate pc to just read your emails so it will not affect your main working pc?

If you configure your Outlook correct, it wont run any scripts or program, if you dont ask it to.
If you arent sure about security and what file to run, then I would recommend getting that antivirus.
In the last company I had(video editing systems), the users never installed any office or mail programs on them, and like you asked - they had a seperat "office" pc for the mail and funstuff.
There were 3 reasone for that.
1 - Local sysadmins are just as dangerous as a virus, and we dident want them to touch our configurations
2 - Virus in mails an on the net
3 - the ODBC drivers in office fucks up most videoediting systems (fox pro driver)Comment

most of them was attached to two networks.
One was the 2 GB SAN fiber-network for the content.
And than they had access to the "office" network though a firewall that only would let DHCP and my remote controll through - no files, mail, internet of gaywebcams.
But the smalle rcustomers would have them stand as a seperate workstation, and thay gad to use the DV tapes and floppys (metadata) to move the data aroundComment

I've never used Outlook for email but after 7+ years with the same email addys, I get tons of spam and virus emails, especially after the implementation of the viruses that grab email addys from browser cache.
I use a program called Mailwasher to download headers. It pre-scans for viruses and if you want can utilize known internet blacklistes to further filter and categorize your email. It doesn't automatically delete things (unless you set it to).
It really cuts down what I have to download for email.Comment

Get a Mac you wont have any problems, our office has 12 all networked together and for Photoshop / Dreamweaver / Word and other related work we do for the web they are first class machines, we use 2 X23 inch LCD monitors for the G4 1.43 machines that do image manipulation and its a dream. The PCs we have are now expensive door stops or plant stands. We are running OS 9.2 and not a single virus that we have opened has caused any problems. But one tip you may like to try is to use SpamCop.net sign up for their $30 a year service and filter all your traffic through them they collect the spam and virus and report all violations to the relevant ISP or to ICAAN.
