"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Seven nuclear facilities in Iraq have been damaged or nearly destroyed by looting, with scientific files and containers missing, the Washington Post has reported.
The facilities were apparently damaged at the beginning of April, when U.S. ground forces began moving into Baghdad, the newspaper reported.

Warehouses were completely destroyed by ransacking and fire, the newspaper cited Army Lt. Colonel Charles Allison as saying. Allison led a U.S. survey team at Ash Shaykhili Nuclear Facility, 10 miles southeast of Baghdad.

"If there was something there it's long since gone," he told the Post."
