Oh my god that looks GOOD! I'm doing a barbecue tomorrow. I'll try and get some pics but I'm certainly going to try this! Thanks for posting itComment

Your welcome, yesterday I smoked a brown sugar/kosher salt cured pork belly with applewood pellets, like eating bacon with a knife and fork.

Buying a Traeger smoker was either the best or worst thing I've ever done, my bathroom scale and next cholesterol test will tell me which it was

Wow, that sounds good too. My weakness is food! Have you ever seen the Pit Barrel Smokers? My Dad has one and he makes some of the best stuff I have ever had with it. Hardly uses any charcoal and everything comes out so perfect.Your welcome, yesterday I smoked a brown sugar/kosher salt cured pork belly with applewood pellets, like eating bacon with a knife and fork.

Yeah I've heard of doing that, in fact my family's first charcoal grill was made from a barrel, I think my dad made it before I was born, my sister still has it in her yard.
From those pics I'd say your dad is a pro, it takes a lot of knowledge and work to smoke that way.
That's why I went with a traeger, even though I'm mostly retired these days I'm still lazy. I like filling the pellet hopper, turning the damn thing on then lazing on the couch while it does all the work.
A couple weeks ago I did a made a small (maybe 2.25 lb) tri-tip, cooked in less than an hour, after letting it rest for 20 minutes I stood at the kitchen counter with a knife and ate half of it, I just couldn't stop!
Last weekend I smoked a Papa Murphy's pizza

He's an amazing chef and has a passion for cooking and it's something we all do as a family at least a couple times a week. Works out well for me because I like eating and really enjoy cooking.Yeah I've heard of doing that, in fact my family's first charcoal grill was made from a barrel, I think my dad made it before I was born, my sister still has it in her yard.

I'm amazed at how low maintenance the barrel cookers are and how fast they cook and holds temperature. He puts in just one load of charcoal and the chips and covers it up with his temp probes in it. It will go 4-5 hours on just that charcoal. He's added so many modification to it though.
I'm trying to convince him to build his own and start selling them with all of the mods he's made and letting my programmer develop a really cool app. He's just an old school Army guy that did a couple tours of Vietnam that's retired and doesn't really have an interest in working on anything but his buzz and cooking haha. His last name is actually Stoner (and he's a stoner!) so it would be perfect for branding!
Smoking a Papa Murphy's pizza sounds AMAZING! How long did it take? Feel free to post up any pictures of your creations so I can drool!Comment

The Papa Murphy's only took 20 minutes running at 425 on oakwood.
It was good, the bread took in the smoke as it baked although next time I may try a different blend, something a bit stronger like hickory or mesquite.Comment
