Holy fuck. Good for you. I can't give up pasta nor potatoes that's why I CAN'T do atkins. I've red the books and researched it, but it's not for me. Nothing seems to be. That's why I'm fat, and continue to be. lol. :)

here is a site I found that rocks!!!
http://www.lowcarboutlet.com

Also if you are looking for a great meal replacement the AdvantEdge Carb Control Ready to Drink, drinks are great. The bars are not too shabby either. The Atkins Advantage bars are quality. Had a Brownie Almond Fudge one for a snack today. Mighty good I might say.

Anyone who has seen serious cholestorol problems the trick there is to cut back on the red meat and fatty foods. Lay off the cheese. Start eating 5 egg omlettes in the morning. 1 full egg and 4 egg whites. Lay off the Salami and Cheese snacks. Move over to turkey and chicken. Beware of fatty fish. Some fats are good. But some can be really bad. I use Isopure 50gram protein shakes 200 calorie 0 fat 0 carbs 50 protein as meal replacements and for fillers when I haven't gotten enough calories out of a meal. Also in case anyone didn't know and you have one close by. In and Out Burger allows you to get any one of their burgers Protein style. They will kill the bun and wrap it in a bunch of lettuce. Had a couple of these the other day for lunch. YUMMY!!!

Anyone looking for more Ideas hit me up or try some of the recipes at http://atkinscenter.com/food/index.html

Some great stuff there. Low carb tortilla's made into Fajita's YUM YUM...

Last but not least... Eat plenty of Spinach and other high fiber veggies. Keep that digestive system flowing. If you found that you haven't had to take the kids for a swim in a few days have something with some carbs and some high fiber to get the pipes flowin again.

I second everything you say.
The new Brownie bars & Choco/Peanutbutter advantage bars are great.
There are an amazing number of places on the net to buy anything from low carb bread (though expensive) to low carb ketchup.

Anyhow, I've lost 30 pounds in 7 weeks and my glucose levels and cholesterol levels have improved dramatically.

I even have some sort of green veggie for dinner almost every night. So, you don't really miss out on your veggies.

A FANTASTIC diet that works, is easy to stay on and tastes great TOO! :thumbsup

Wine is acceptable once you get past the induction part of the Atkins diet.

The Atkins diet worked really well for me. I managed to lose 45 lbs in 9 months, and have kept the weight off for about 1 1/2 years.

Ah, the memories of going to In-N-Out Burger and ordering Protein-style Double-Doubles, 4x4s, and Flying Dutchmen...and what other diet allows us to eat bacon and eggs for breakfast every day?

I knew about some of the health consequences, but as everyone knows, looking good is the most important--long term consequences to be damned.

I do eat whole wheat carbs for lunch though, because it is really bad for you to go completly without carbs!! Whole Wheat is best because they stay in your system longer then white flour carbs do, so it gives it longer for you to burn off.

Does anyone know what kind of alcoholic drinks I can have that dont have carbs in them?? hahahaha:1orglaugh

Red wine is VERY low in carbs!

Are you sure you are on the Atkins plan? Because Atkins isn't about NO carbs, it's about reduced carbs. Your carbs should come mostly from vegetables (the green, leafy kind).

My favorite site for LC products is www.netrition.com. And the Keto Spaghetti rocks!

I've lost 55 lbs. in 9 months, and just returned from 9 days in Mexico (I fell off the Low-carb wagon on day 6 :BangBang: ), and surprisingly didn't gain a pound. I'm back on 2-weeks of induction beginning today. I find that 65% fat, 30% protein, and 5% carbs works best for me.

For the record my ketone strips work.
I went to a wedding last night and even though I didn't eat any of the food we did go out drinking in the quarter afterwards and when I woke up this morning and used the strip it didn't change color :(

Of course, I know I didn't overdo the carbs because I drank lite beer and it doesn't take much for me to get hammered, but I read that the body metabolizes alcohol before anything else, which is why there's wasn't any fat metabolizing going on this morning.

What's even funnier is I weighed 3lbs less this morning. (probably because I'm so dehydrated)
Ah well, had a hell of a good time even though I'm paying for it now. :throwup

Hmm.. when I was planning on getting on the diet I tried to seek these strips. But my local pharmacy didn't have a clue what I was jabbering about. What do they measure exactly?

Here's some info about alpha lipoic acid

how ALA works for the bodybuilder.

Subject A consumes a diet of 3000Kcal a day.
He follows a regime composed of
60% carbs/30%protein/10%fat. In other words
a typical BB regimen.

Thats;

Kcas=3000
Carbs=1800/4=450g
Protein=900/4=225g
Fat=300/9=33g

Now, his muscles are capable of holding
375g of glycogen. He however is eating
450g. Thats 75g too many(300Kcal),
an after 12 days on this diet he will
pick up 1lb of fat.

Now, lets add 600mg ALA/day in divided doses.

ALA will increase glucose up-take into the muscles by
roughly 40%.

His muscles were capable of holding 375g of carbs but
now due to the ALA they can hold:
375g+(375*0.4)=525g of carbs.
So now, he is consuming 450g of carbs and is capable
of storing 525g of carbs.
(A deficit of 75g or 300Kcal)

By adding some cardio at 60-70% intensity for 45min
(around 300Kcal caloric expenditure), he now
loses 1lb of fat every 12 days, instead of gaining
1lb of fat.

Do you now see the benefit of ALA?

Its an excellent supplement in my opinion.

I upped my carbs from a low card diet
added ALA
its cool shit
