Along the lines of "Fuck Midas" thread....

I decided to join a gym. Got my two weeks free coupon online and went to check out a local Bally's here in Boca. I fill in some basic paperwork for a temporary pass. This sales guy drags me into his office and start pitching me stupid shit, three year plantinum memberships, etc. before I could even see the gym! I am shooting them all down and I am getting annoyed. So he shows me the gym. The gym is great, so is the crowd. I get to work out.

That was Tuesday. On Wednesday I get a call at 10:00 AM -- same dude trying to get my credit card number and wants me to sign up to the damn platinum membership. I tell him that I'll talk to him later. I come in on Wednesday night and lo and behond, that prick sees me entering and runs towards me and start to sell me shit again. I am like dude, I've had a shit day, can I just work out? I get on the machine, doing my cardio. The clock on the machine hasn't passed 10 minues into the exersize the stupid fuck shows up and starts talking to me as I am trying to exersize!!! Once again, I played it off but I got a pretty bad taste in my mouth from that crap.

Well I have a nice workout, I am walking out and this receptionist girl calls me over and says that Vince (the sales dude) told her that I want to buy a god damn membership. I was nice to her and played it off.

Today (Thursday) I get a first call at 10:30 AM, didn't pick up. I get a second call at noon at my office, third call at about 1:00 PM. Now I had a shit day, I am taking a bath trying to relax so I don't go postal and this fuck calls me on my cell phone at 5:30. I had to lay it down for him. I didn't use any expletives but I did make it clear. Well, apparently I am not welcome at that gym anymore.

I actually got asked to leave my local gym because I was smoking when I was on the exercise bike. I thought it was outrageous that I was not allowed to do it.....

Sorry to hear about your experience.

I worked for Bally for so many years and I remember I used to do all that.

Including holding on to people's ID, block the office door so my clients wouldn't leave, calls at 10pm or 6 am.

Going to their house, climbing up their fence to get them to sign a 3 year contract... all that.

Bally's sales people are aggressive as hell. Also, they don't tell you this up front, but what they actually do is loan you the money for the membership, so there is no way for you to get out of it. If you really want to work out at bally's, do what I did and buy a membership on ebay for 1/3 the price. I pay a whopping $7/month

When I was 18 I got a free one week membership at Gold's or 24 hour or something. The sales guy (HUGE, RIPPED black dude) called me a bunch of times up to a month after it had expired and literally got mad and yelled at me like I owed it to him to come in and get a regular membership.

man, I hadn't thought about that in years ~ but it scared the sh*t out of me at the time.

Hahaha! I wanted to sign up to gain weight. Many people would give their left one to be in my shape but I want to be heavier, gain muscle in upper body and arms.

same here, try some weight gainer shakes to get started. i gained 30 pounds pretty quick and i stopped the shakes and stuck around the same weight.

You actually can buy a membership from Bally at Ebay.

Most memberships re liked to one person and cannot be transferred to anyone else. Except for the Premier Plus.

Premire Pluds ois the only membership that can be transfered to someone else. {I'm not sure how it is now though} It usually requires you to pay $100.00 transfer fee and a 3-6 week wait till its activated.

Those fucks billed my credit card, a charge I didn't authorize. I called them to make sure it's refunded and they had the nerve to ask me if I still wanted a membership.

Whoever the inventor of the telephone is (not gonna argue if it's Bell or Meucci or Manzetti), he forgot to add a "kick in the ass" function so by pressing a button you could give the other party a good ass whopping. I asked that my number is never called again under any circumstances. I can't wait till someone there screws up and calls me so I can sue them under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
