say 18%, with no tax for the first 30K per year FOR EVERYBODY. I haven't been able to find out if that covers everything or just fed, still need to pay disability, SSI? State? I was paying a total of about 54% so it seem like a good deal but what is hidden? any thoughts? any information?
what do you guys think of a flat tax?

I just did my wife's taxes she brought in 102k last year as a rn. Her tax rate was 8.75% after current standard deductions. Some how she is getting a refund of $3900. So anyone making under 102k a year a tax of 18% would be a increase. Even if you add ssi and disability i would assume her tax rate would be under 18% but i would have to do the math to verify.Icq 247-742-205Comment

Paying taxes is part of living in a modern, civilised country. Do you want social healthcare, education, unemployment, pensions, road, fire services, police, military, etc and all the things that go along with keeping you safe and secure?
What's wrong is giant corporation getting away with paying little, then exporting jobs, paying minimum wage, low skilled immigrants keeping down wage, etc.Comment

with this table below you still need to add SSI, Disability and State. at least if I remember correctly, and this is on the net. not the gross. with a flat tax there are no deductions. just a straight %I just did my wife's taxes she brought in 102k last year as a rn. Flat taxes and consumption taxes are generally unfair. That 18% is a far greater portion of a working person's wealth than that of a billionaire etc.Comment

I prefer it versus someone arbitrarily deciding how much income is "too much" and needs to be taxed higher (fair share???)... At least america is capped at 37%, many other countries that number just keeps climbing.Comment

The issues with our tax system is more of what is income. No deductions? That would be great, but obviously businesses get to deduct costs etc and we are right back into the mess.say 18%, with no tax for the first 30K per year FOR EVERYBODY. The other sides we need to pay taxes so the take has to be the same. Who is going to pay more is the question?Comment

Do you want to pay less tax and higher debt? Or see the private sector take over more or just do away with things that go to make a modern civilised country?
Will your flat rate of tax raise what the country needs?
