I have this 55 gal drum that had olive oil. I want to use it as water backup in my RV but need to clean it first. What king of chemical works on removing olive oil? Vinegar? Baking soda?
Remedy to clean leftovers of olive oil from container.

The problem is it only has small hole on the top. I don't want to cut the top off with grinder and weld it back. I was hoping I can pour some shit in, shake it, dump it and its gone. There's got to be something that reacts to oil.

You will need dawn, a large pot like the kind you boil water for pasta.
Boil water in pot. dawn in pot once boiled or just on the hot side. Just brush to scrub inside of drum, pour pot inside drum.
Dump out , warm some more water to rinse twice
Then cold water from the hose to finish the job.
If you have more than one big pot and someone to help it will go alot faster.Comment

just put dishwasher tablet inside, leave it to dissolve in water, leave it like that for an hour or two and than rinse with water properly.⭐ CAM SODA ⭐ STRIPCHAT ⭐

Thank you. Will try that. I also figured I can build a little fire pit, wrap bottom of the barrel in foil and heat up some water in it. Its going to be a mess :")Comment

Skip the foil. Coat the bottom in dishwasher soap beforehand, then when you go to cleanup all the smoot and scorch will wipe right off. Trick I learned in Boy Scouts.

We use Dawn dish soap to clean oil from scuba tanks for Nitrox. It will work fine for your drum. Dawn was also used to clean wildlife from oil spills. It works.Comment

That right there. Stop with your putting it in fire idea.
Just use dish soap. You don't even have to scrub. Warm water, dish soap, let sit, pour out, repeat a couple of times.
Just try it on a bowl in your sink first to test it.
Or the $80 option I posted above.
Or fuck it, put it in fire and release more chemicals then wash your dishes and bathe in the water that comes out, I don't care.Comment
