links on mainstream sites are much better than links on adult sites. many adult sites are ranking black-hat using illegal hacked links on mainstream sites

Yep, mainstream backlinks are still better then even best adult backlink, as they have much bigger authority. If you manage to get news sites to make an article about your adult website, it's like hitting a jackpot.

Not many quality maintream sites will be willing to link to adult sites and if so, it won't be cheap. I still prefer quality niche related adult sites for backlinks.

That is why most of mainstream backlinks are hacked, by exploiting security holes of scripts. Not easy to get legit mainstream backlinks.

that's a huge part of pornhub's SEO game--bait links from mainstream news sites with blog posts, publicity stunts, etc

for the rest of us, mainstream links are mostly only possible if hacked...but they're still the best links out there
