    should celebrity sites go fuck themselves?

    Just wondering what the take is of everyone here in regards to celebrity sites? Should they go fuck themselves.. or do you promote the niche and find nothing wrong with it?

                              You can buy celeb content everywhere..
                              From magazines, photographers, celebrities..

                              NEVER use unlicensed celeb content.. I've
                              been using them 2 years, and no problems
                              (only got soem emails) though, BUT if you
                              get a problem, you have a big $$$ problem

                              So just spend some cash on your licensed
                              pics...

                                      There is very little "legal" celeb content out there, pretty much all you can get are publicity photos and pictures from awards shows and whatnot from professional photographers at $10-$15 per picture. Not exactly a good way to build up a 5-digit collection. Most people who run celeb sites either collect pictures themselves, patrol Usenet, or get them from other sites. There is really no issue with stealing content when all the content is in effect stolen to begin with.

                                      When you run a celeb site, you take the risk that a magazine or movie studio might decide to sue you at some point. However, realistically, most will simply tell you to remove the content since lawyers cost more than they could recover from you. I've been working this niche for 5 years now and have yet to encounter a major legal problem (though I have gotten my fair share of cease-and-decist letters).

                                          You just gotta know what you shouldn't use (Playboy shit, Alyssa Milano, Catherine Zeta Jones, Alley Baggett etc) and what you _can_ use...

                                              I've been doing celeb site for a couple months with lousy ratios but still another $100 a month in income. I get the content by using CEN ( www.cen.com ) I've heard different opinions on CEN but they've paid me on time so I have no complaints.

                                                                          Some series of Jenna Jameson are also a big no no. All the stuff from Playboy, Maxim and Slitz magazines will get you into trouble or at least you will get a nice letter... =)

                                                                          In todays paper was a article of a porn-magazine (paper, not online)(here in Finland that is) that had used playboys pictures of the Finnish Playboy-bunny Linda Lampenius in their cover. Court decided that they had to pay allmost $16000 to Playboy and the courtcosts of about $8000.

                                                                              I know in regards to some content there are certain photos of Britney Spears that you cannot use.. and some Christina Aguilera ones aswell.

                                                                              But aside from those cases most of the banned celebrities arent that hot or popular anyways.. usually washed up or almost washed up.

                                                                              One of those examples is Jennifer Love Hewitt.. when she had "party of 5" and that short term show of her own, along with the "i know what you did.." movies.. she never said nothing about her content being online.. then she loses her fame and begins bitching about it..

                                                                              As for playboy and hustler, etc etc dont touch their stuff .. or else APIC will be coming down on your head.
