In many cases. even if you read the small print and terms, they make it almost impossible to cancel. Some of the programs, you have to call them, and they are on the other side of the world, so the hours are completely different. And even if you do get a hold of them, they will do things like say you can have another 2 weeks or so free, not knowing that you also signed up for a hidden pre-checked cross sell, which doesn't get cancelled and you get rebilled for it.
And then there's the female members....or complete lack thereof. When you post a blank profile, with no info and no pictures, the messages start flowing in within seconds from female members that are supposedly interested in you.
Another trick...in the small print, you may find things like, your 3 day trial must be cancelled within 2 days, or will be rebilled for $xx. They get away with it, because if you cancel after 2 days, you still get access for a full 3 days. You will usually find this info somewhere around the 1,000 word mark in the Terms & Conditions....ie...buried.
So basically, they are selling a product that doesn't exist, for an amount that is much greater than what appears to be the advertised price. It may seem legit, but really not even a step above any other boiler room scam.Comment

Criticism where criticism is due...however your facts are wrong. AdultFriendFinder is a US firm who operates and pays out of the US. There was a class action suit, true. However that was due to a hacking and data breach. And there are plenty of real members, that I can guarantee. Sure, some escorts and whatnot will get their profiles on there... But the real looking people are in fact real. Seems that when most people complain it's because they send a message to somebody really hot and don't get a response. Fact is, if you couldn't pick this person up offline, there's no reason why they're going to be interested in you online.
This wasn't supposed to become a AdultFriendFinder fan club post. but the dishonest activities of so many of the other dating sites makes AdultFriendFinder a rarity in this industryComment

They were one of the first dating-companies to set up automation, and their first two functions were to:
1 - bate people to upgrade from "free" to "premium" membership, by having their fake profiles write to the new members.
2 - when someone canceled their trial or were close to it, they would have a fake profile write to them, so have them pay to reactivate the profile.
Ho to ANY blachhat forums and you find people controlling +100.000 profiles and selling different services around that ecosystem
You need to be gullible to the extreem, if you think even 20% of the profiles are real
If you go to https://adultfriendfinder.com and press "browse" - at least 15% of the pictures are from known pornstars that have no knowledge of having a profile there.

AFF has moved the needle on legitimacy. They don't send out fake contacts. They do send out emails periodically listing new people on the site...real people who look like real people and are real people.
Where they really beat the others is in their billing. You pay exactly what you think you are paying and you can cancel, and your account actually gets cancelled. And no cross sells. Don't know a single other adult dating site that can say the same.

We do not create fake profiles or bots like many of the other players in adult/mainstream dating. Since we have been around since 1996 we are a target for scammers, but have large in house team who's only job each day is to clear out those profiles. We get as many as we can, but can only do so much. If people do not report the ones we miss how are we supposed to know?
One of our largest complaints is the ratio of men to women. Yes we do have far more men than women, but that is to be expected when you run a legit adult dating site.Comment
