I read he used to be an amateur boxer back in the day and his face got busted up pretty good sparring with some world champs back in the day that didn't go easy on him. I think it was James Toney that used to spar with him and would pound on him. That's what started his journey into plastic surgery.

I grew up in South Florida and attended 3 of them, at the War Memorial in Ft Lauderdale in 1991, the Convention Center in Miami in 1992, and the Davie Arena in 1994 which was a rodeo arena and a fucking crazy place back in the day. His official record was 6-0-2, but a few of those decisions were gifts to say the least. If I recall correctly he started out as a pretty flabby heavyweight, but slimmed down to light heavyweight.

That being said he actually had a little bit of skill, although he basically brawled in most of his fights and took as many punches as he gave. He was busted up BAD in most of his fights with a few being bloodbaths, and developed a ton of scarring around his face which caused him to go crazy on the plastic surgery...
