I have a cousin who lives in Florida; She's my age. She rents a "double wide trailer that belongs to her mother". She's "lost" everything three times now due to hurricanes. Whatever.
She is not even in the path of the hurricane and their gas stations have been wiped out - meaning sold out of gas instantly. A tanker truck stopped by at one of the nine gas stations in town and everyone got into lines to get gas.
I bought a small Beach Side Condo on Grand Bahamas a few months ago.. not sure how the building is holding up and Vacation rentals are going to be a bust this winter if there's tons of damage. Now I'm regretting.

no regrets, the bahamas always gets damages and always has storms bigger than anywhere else...
our first vacation together was back in 1998, just after a huge hurricane, i think Mick had hit. We wondered why the holiday was less than a grand, but still, was amazing and the place soon was restored, looked and was great when we were there
I live on the west coast of Florida. It was originally set to go right through us. Now the tv personalities aka the meteorologists say otherwise. However, it’s stagnant and growing which means it may in deed hit us. They predict it will move north along the east coast but something tells me they have no idea. We got hit with Irma and it wasn’t too pleasant having no power and lack of the things you take for granted (fast food). Also I hate this state. It’s a hot hellhole where everyone comes to either die or hide from their problems from another state.
Kim Mullins, a resident of Grand Bahama Island, told "GMA" she lived through Hurricane Floyd in 1999, Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne in 2004, Hurricane Wilma in 2005, Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and Hurricane Irma in 2017. But she said Hurricane Dorian is the most menacing beast yet.
"The winds, they sound crazy. It literally feels as though something is about to happen even though my house is secure," Mullins said. I don't think I've ever been afraid before like this."
