    Kristy McNichol

    I was reading the list of actors in Breaking Bad and saw that one actor was in Family. For some off reason that brought up Kristy to mind. She was a very talented actress and then quit Hollywood due to a mental illness. Her brother was an actor but not well known.

    Does anyone remember her or know what happened to her? I remember a movie with Jodie Foster and her about losing their virginity at 13.

      I always thought she was a lesbian. Pretty sad to have to live life in the closet for several decades.

              In June 2001, McNichol announced that she had retired from acting. Her publicist released this statement:

              A lot of people have wondered what I've been up to. I retired from my career after 24 years. My feeling was that it was time to play my biggest part – myself! I must say that it has been the best thing that ever happened to me. So many fans are disappointed that I'm not currently acting; however, some may not realize that the process I'm in at this time is necessary and vital for my personal happiness and well-being.

              After her retirement, McNichol taught acting at a private school in Los Angeles and devoted much of her time to charity work. In 2012, McNichol ended years of speculation when she revealed that she is a lesbian and has lived with her partner for almost two decades. She made the statement in the hopes that her openness would help young people who are bullied because of their sexuality.

                  Didn’t know that she was a singer. I just remember her from a lot of tv shows as the guest star. I saw Family or something similarly named on an oldies tv show website years ago.

                  She gave up a lot and I thought her mental health was involved. Ah, 1992 she was diagnosed with bipolar disease. Just looked it up and I’m not surprised that she left Hollywood. Not many actors survive the child actors’ syndrome of growing up and finding no roles.

                  Little Darlings was the boycotted movie because they lost their virginity.

                  Hopefully she’s happy and healthy and living a good life.

                      Jimmy has a daughter that is a major rap star and singer. I’ve never heard of her but apparently she is still doing well in rap.

                          She worked steady until she retired in '98. She did 7 years in Empty Nest and was 26 when she started in that role.

                          You can't say she found no roles in any manner. She was quite sucessful and decided to stop.
