The a7r iv came out today...wouldn't you rather have new as opposed to old? Not that the iii is bad, but if you're already spending the money...61 megapixels!

61 megapixels sounds great but id love to see the D-max for this camera
I have a Sony a7ii and I love it! It's mirrorless & full sensor which is great but it took some getting used to for me not to hear the clicking of the photo being taken after all these years using a mirrored Cannon DSLR. What sold me in the a7ii was the full sensor, excellent low light capability & phase detect auto focus. I also like its versatility with lenses
I have no idea what's different between the a7ii & a7iii so I can't speak to the newer model.

a7 and a7r aren't the same camera. So you can't even speak on that series. You've got the toy model
Ill stick to my gh5s...
also really like the bmpcc4k but that one i found totally unreliable on a 14 hours shooting day...
The Ursa 4.6k... mindblowing images but too heavy to run around with all day.

I have 4 of the Pocket 4K and it's the first camera from BMD that I haven't had issues with within the first 10 hours of operation. The only fault I have with them, is the monitor. It's huge and nice, but doesn't move and in the sun, it's unusable.
All 4 of them have worked flawlessly. I've also got two Ursa Mini Pros and an Ursa Mini 4K. We also shoot with the UMPs all day, handheld or on our shoulders...with no issues. It's not more or less weight rigged up and any other cinema or eng camera. I had the Big Ursa before these, so in comparison...they're tiny.
That LED with the big softbox is the best $400 I've spent.

I have a few examples of bmpcc4k’s overheating and fucking up schedule. Totally unacceptable. Thats a shame because i love all the rest of it. Yes the monitor sucks but i would use an external recorder anyway so... no problem.
Pffff UMP way too heavy for me to run around with all day. Lol

If I skinny fuck like myself can do it, you can too. It'll be a while before I give up the UMPs. They came as a result of the loyalty upgrade the gave original Ursa owners. We paid $6000 for two of them at launch, which I think was less than or equal to the cost of one, at retail. I don't have the need for 300fps, so the new model didn't really appeal to me.
I think the Micro Cinema Camera line will be upgraded next. Removing the monitor should help with overheating issues. And a modular system like RED, Kinifinity and now zCam use. Most of the complaints people seem to have involve their choice of batteries for power. We use NP970s in an adapter and can get 6 hours off one battery, instead of 20 minutes off of the battery that comes with it.
